Texas qb Garrett Gilbert plans to transfer out of Texas after this year. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the Purple and Gold.

That's interesting news, but I don't think he'll be a Panther. I feel we have some very strong guys behind Tirrell that are more classic UNI quarterbacks.

This got posted on our site and of course immediately the rumor mill starts...I really doubt this guy ends up at the fcs level, someone educate me that sense this is mid semester, can he come in immediately at the FBS next year?

Yes he could play right away for an FCS school but not an FBS school unless he gets a release from the NCAA. The rule used to be if you transferred down you could play right away, but they changed it to you have to be a junior or younger for that to work. If your a senior then you have to sit a year.

I was kinda hopeful to start the rumor mill here just for the fun of it.

Between Lanpher and Kollmorgen and then the rest of the QB's (IMO it's those two then the rest next year) there will be enough of a QB battle next year...and depth.

the days of UNI needing FBS rejects are long in the rear view mirror. UNI was never one that relied on them heavily anyway.

Yep we've had some major busts. Who was that kid that transferred from USC a few years ago? Wasn't he one of the most highly recruited RBs coming out of high school?

Over in the forest we have had quite a few ourselves...schmidtke, stutzriem didn't make too many sycamore fans feel very comfortable about Ronnie Fouch.
