I'm surprised. Hopefully it will be a win-win for everyone.

It has to help. I likely won’t have any at football with tailgating but I can see enjoying a beer at a basketball game.

It appeared to be a success? Maybe? Lines were long and constant for the first half but then dropped like a rock after halftime. Pretty pricey ($7 bucks), so at least the school was making money, although I'm not sure if the beer cut into other concessions. There was no drunken brawls, but (surprise surprise) it didn't magically fix attendance. So...success?

David said that they sold more and made more money than they were expecting to. Definitely a success.

Even if it didn't magically fix attendance - which no one claimed it would - and only 10% of people bought 1 beer and 1 beer only (i'm completely making numbers up for easy math)

That's still $7,000 that didn't exist before hand.

Yes I understand overhead of buying the beer and one time set up costs to get it going.

Sounds like a an initial success from various reports. Good to build upon.

Keep in mind, the domestic beer is in 16 ounce cans, so that translates back to about $5 for a regular size 12 ounce can. The $7 price point seems about right for the larger can.

Yeah no complaints about price. That's about as good as you can expect to pay. Cans were also a fantastic decision over tap beer. Good execution all around by the university on this one so far.
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

I'll be honest: IMO a can is worth an extra dollar or two to me over a draft

As has been said - fantastic decision on their part.

If they ever get close to a sellout again they will need more beer stands.

They will sell even more when tailgate weather is less than ideal.

I was thinking the same thing. I didnt experience any issues waiting in line, but only 9k people were at the game. Might be a good idea to put a couple more stands up for bigger games, homecoming, etc.

                            Utterly ridiculous.

When I got in line at halftime they were hustling to refill the cooler. I had the thought at the time...this stuff is coming off the shelves faster than they expected.
