UNI can’t afford “buy games”?

I think it does have to do with the other. Did UNI show us that they deserved a seed in the playoffs? To me they didn’t play like it. Tomorrow UNI will get a chance to show everybody if they are deserving or not. If they get beat by SDSU, then case closed.

Really? You know how many Pioneer teams the MVFC played in 2019? Four. Illinois State(vs. Morehead State), Indiana State(vs. Dayton), North Dakota State(vs. Butler) and South Dakota State(vs. Drake). I guess if 40% is much, then you're right. But that four of 39 non-conference games the MVFC had this year. They had more with the Big Sky(10) and Ohio Valley(6) than the Pioneer. Not to mention 9 games against the FBS. The MVFC was also one of only three conferences that didn't play a game against a team below FCS(Colonial and Ivy).Originally posted by run&blade View Post
When much of the Valley is playing Pioneer teams I don’t no what that does to clarify it. Besides all they go by is number of W’s.
As far as the Selection Committee only going by number of W's, wrong. If you don't understand bracketology, you shouldn't be talking about it. There's a lot that goes into it; Power Rankings, Strength of Schedule, signature wins, bad losses, strength of conference, etc.college sports madness,FCS Football,Bracketology

Long Island - first year D1 went winless and plays in a non full scholarship league
SUU - UNI also crushed
Finished 4th in the Valley
finished behind UNI in every poll - except their secretive SRS - and in all computers.
Tell me more about these SoS amd power rankings requirements please.

That's the problem, there are no SET requirements. One major issue is that the Committee uses the FCS Coaches' Poll as one of its criteria. Which is easily the worst of all polls out there. Many times the coaches don't even vote, they hand their ballot off to an intern. Ask any coach how much time they have to focus on any game but the one they're preparing for and maybe look at scores around their conference. Almost all of them will tell you they don't have time for it.
I spend at minimum, 10-15 hours per week, which is mostly free time, looking over schedules, power rankings, etc. Reading as much as I can, to be as "in-the-know" as I possibly can for all the material I cover in writing and/or radio. The Simple Rating System(SRS), is the biggest sham the Committee has. The fact they keep this thing cloaked all season long, THEN reveal it AFTER the pairings? Nobody knows how the system works exactly. And believe me, I've written to them and asked for the formula - they're not giving it up. But the fact that it's only supposed to matter towards wins and losses, home and road, sounds pretty fishy to me. Something's there that isn't shared because if that's all it was, Central Connecticut State would have been a top 3 team in SRS, just for the fact they were undefeated against the FCS. Now, were they really a top 3 team? Not a chance. But what I'm saying is that the Committee's stated criteria and results don't coincide.
I do as much, if not more FCS Bracketology, than anybody else involved with college football. And I'm not bashful enough to say it, I am the best. And I truly believe when I put out my final pairings, nobody has done more thorough work than I have evaluating the landscape over the entire season - including those ten commissioners in the Committee room.
UNI should have been the #7 seed this year. I laughed when I heard Tyler Merriam on the air with Gary Rima, saying he thought that South Dakota State FELL to #7 that final week from #3 or #4. I can tell you straight up, that was NOT the case. At the end of Week 12, SDSU would have been slotted #7. NDSU and JMU didn't move all season. Montana, Weber State and Sacramento State had all only lost one FCS game, so they would have been 3-4-5. Illinois State and SDSU had two FCS losses and would have been slotted 6-7, by virtue of ISUred's head-to-head win over SDSU. The #8 seed was a cluster between Villanova, Central Arkansas, Montana State, Northern Iowa and Wofford.
Montana State's drubbing of Montana moved them in and Montana from #3 to #6, as all the Big Sky teams had either 1 or 2 FCS losses. They were all locks to finish as those middle four seeds. Having lost their last games, ISUred and SDSU should have fallen out. UNI having the second place finish in the MVFC, all by themselves, should have been awarded a spot. Wofford had no signature wins and was thus eliminated from seed contention. UCA and Villanova both had nine Division I wins. UCA had a win over a good FBS Western Kentucky and over Ohio Valley champion, Austin Peay. UCA deserved their bid. UNI or Villanova? UNI had superior computer numbers, strength of schedule, the better win and the least hurtful losses.
For whatever reason, the Committee got it wrong and the representative from Missouri State who was there for the MVFC, sat on their ass and let it happen!college sports madness,FCS Football,Bracketology
