every week I see people talking about how our upcoming opponent is terrible and that we are going to steamroll them.
then when the game happens, and it ends up just being a normal decent win (b/c the opponent wasn't actually that bad), they whinge about how our program is underperforming

This literally has not happened.

Nobody picked us to win at Iowa State. We outperformed expectations.

Most people were just hoping for a W in Sacramento. We won by multi scores, outperformed expectations.

Everyone expected a blowout last week, and thats exactly what happened.

Keep whining about that strawman though.

He's listed as "Asst. Football Coach, QC", on their website. He was Director of Player Personnel last season, so did he get moved elsewhere - maybe a booth job?

FYI: A point spread is determined by the betting...it changes based on the number of bets either above or below the spread. It doesnt have anything to do with anything other than that. If to many bets go one way...that changes the spead to get more bets the other direction.

The spread is a number created to get as close to 50% of the bet on each side of the number.

You're thinking money line. Spread is all about evening bets out to limit losses.

The spread is literally designed to give the line setters as close to a 50/50 split on bets. It's why lines move during the week. Line is initially set at 13.5 and a ton of money comes in heavy on the side of Team A to cover the odds makers will move the spread to get more people betting on the line not being covered. In that regard the spread is quite literally designed to give the "losing team" as much of a chance to win the bettor money as the "winning team"

It's all risk management when it comes to spreads.


As for his using pernt, it's a racially driving thing (shocking I know coming from him). Using the stereotype of certain segments and regions of this country using the er sound rather than the oi sound. Just more race-baiting from him.

Can understand why it stood, there were no good video angles to see the ball and knee at the same time. But that was an excellent job of tackling AND ripping the ball at the same time. I think it was a turnover, but again can understand that it wasn't clear enough to overturn the original call.

Offense has looked much cleaner today. Just a few small errors away from having that 2nd TD, but you can just feel like YSU has no answer for us. They're just hoping we screw things up on our own.
