    Theo not being OPOY when leading the league in every meaningful offensive category is a joke.

    Woo not being First Team while leading the league in interceptions and Pick 6s might be a bigger joke.

    Lastly, Korby Sander doesn't play linebacker, has never played linebacker and would be shocked if you told him right now that he is a linebacker.

      Hey, I’ll take first team QB. Was fully expecting HM.

      How did we have multiple weeks in a row with a Off Line Player of the week recognition, yet no first teamers?

        Number 1 offense in the conference and Theo is the only first teamer

        To take that a step further

        Theo managed to lead UNI to the number 1 offense in the conference without a single other first-team player, and only 1 second-team and 1 honorable mention. That's incredible, yet not worthy of OPOY somehow.

          I haven’t actually dug through the numbers, but this had to have been statistically the best offense we have had since 2008 and 2009, correct? Without question the best passing offense.

            Highest passing yards per game since 2000 (288.45 this year, 289.5 in 2000; fourth best season ever);
            Highest yard per passing attempt since 1995 (9.62 yards per attempt this year, 10.6 in 1995; third best season ever);
            Most passing touchdowns since 2017 (26 this year, 28 that year; ties for seventh best season ever);
            Most yards per attempt since 2012 (4.5 this year, 4.5 that year; ties for tenth best season ever);

            Highest offensive yards per game since 2007 (444.9 this year, 457.3 in 2007; fourth best season ever);
            Highest offensive yards per play since 1962 (6.9 this year, 7.48 in 1962; third best season ever);

            Most points per game since 2009 (33 per game this year, 33.6 per game in 2009) - this is total points (offense, defense, returns - all offense this season except Woo's two pick-sixes against Western, right?).

            (On edit - fixed the passing touchdowns in a season - it is the most since 28 in 2017)

              Added - this is Cook's fourth first-team MVFC honor in four years - has UNI ever had a four-time all-conference first team selection ever? MVFC, Gateway, old NCC (freshmen became eligible in '68).

                  Good call ... three-time first team ('94-'95-'96). The media guide lists him as first team in '94 and '96 but as OPotY in '95 and again in '96 ... surely he was first team in '95 and it is missing in the media guide (the MVFC site has empty pages for historical honors).

                  Mike Furrey ('97-'98-'99).

                  William Freeney ('90-'91-'92).

                  Ray Pederson ('65-'66-'67).

                  Randy Schultz was in '63-'64-'65.

                  Paul De Van ('47-'48-'49).

                  A lot of two-timers.

                      My observation and only complaint is who the heck is Bruce Craddock? MVFVC coach of the year is named for a gentleman that coached six years at Western Ill with a 500 record of 41-35.

                      I would think "Coach of the Year" would be named for someone with more history and broad based success.

                      For reference, Darrell Mudra coachd at North Dakota State University, Western Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Northern Iowa, with an overall record of 200-81.

                        You could look at it from the perspective of why we didn't think Evansville's "super scorers" really deserved to be POY when they were given 30 shots a game under Marty Ball but their team typically finished .500 or worse. Colt Ryan anyone?

                        On the other hand, this kind of season should put Theo at the top of some lists for Payton award next year.

                          Those guys were out of the ordinary for just volume shootING to the rest of the conference. Theo was 4th in passing attempts last I saw. They also didn't lead Evansville to some sort of top of top-of-the-league in scoring and efficiency.

                          Not a great comp, really, though I understand the basic idea you are throwing out there.

                              The other thing with Theo is a lot of these seasons that we're comparing him against were 12, 13, 14 games. He did it in 11.
