    Anthony James Question

    I was just wondering if they have determined they will be able to use his redshirt this year? I know he played against Marquette then got Mono, and since then he hasn't seen the court even in mop up duty. This just leads me to believe it is possible to use his redshirt still even though he has played.

    If someone with more info than me can chip in that would be great as I am curious about this situation.

    medical redshirt for james, but i believe reed is done

      They will be pursuing a medical hardship (redshirt) for AJ. With mono it's a difficult thing. If you come back to early, you can rupture your spleen. Not exactly the best time to break in a guard in the middle of MVC play. With him and Marc Sonnen, I really like our potential guard play next year. A good mix of athleticism and skill.

        Is Reed done because he chooses to be or because he will not be able to get a medical hardship?

          I know adding those guys in with Johnny, Ali, Kwadzo, and Kerwin I think there will be tons of potential for our team next year. But don't want to get ahead of myself as there is a lot more basketball to play this year!

            The medical redshirts are not granted until after the season is over, by the NCAA. I would assume that if he chooses to not come back it's due to C-Reed making that decision. I honestly can't blame him for not coming back. The guy has been through the craziest amount of injuries and set-backs.

                actually, im pretty sure that a 5th medical hardship year wouldnt be granted until Anthony finishes his fourth year of school.

                  So he wouldn't know if he had a 5th year until he was done with his senior year? I think I remember reading he wanted to go to grad school, so it may not be an issue but that could really mess with how he does his class scheduling

                      Will James be back next year? I thought it was a tough sell at possibly red shirting before the mono. And he didnt get any experience to put him ahead in the logjam gaurd position.

                          But Jess Settles was really good and was at IOWA...when IOWA was good No offense to Carlton, but Jess is still one up on him I think. (Only because Carlton hasn't gotten the chance to show what he's got). So basically i just contradicted myself.
                          I just think the NCAA has it out for us. That's all.
