It seems that the post-graduation world makes it a lot more difficult to find people that can take a few days off and head down to St. Louis to enjoy the MVC Tourney. I'm really thinking about going but am having trouble finding people to go. Anyone going? Also, any advice on where to stay? I need something cheaper since I will be there by my lonesome.

Re: MVC Tourney, anyone going?
should be everything you need here. Get one person to go this year, it only takes two people to have fun, it will grow every year. I went with one other guy in 2004, this year our group has reached 10. I actually have people asking me to go now.Illinois State Fan at a St. Louis White Castle 3:45AM Saturday March 6th:
"White Castle?" "more like Black Castle..."
You stay classy Redbirds.

Re: MVC Tourney, anyone going?
Threw out the idea to a few friends whom are alums of other universities. To much surprise, most thought it would be a great time. So, I will be there with Drake, Creighton, UI, and ISU fans. Really sad part, it appears our tickets will be in the Drake section. The fun part will be the patch of purple in their section!

I would hope the count is higher, too. I'm not sure when these numbers are from. If you remember, before the new year, we weren't playing very well, and, I can imagine there weren't a number of people jumping on the bandwagon. I didn't buy mine until January as we were waiting on a few people to see who was going and who wasn't. I'd like to see more recent numbers. Maybe more UNI fans are not getting their tickets from the school?

Re: MVC Tourney, anyone going?
The seating thru UNI ticket office is horrible for the tournament. Aslo just scalp tickets from losing teams, its much better

Re: MVC Tourney, anyone going?
No guarantee the UNI seats will be any better this year. The Drake tickets were close to UNI last year. If we really sold as few as they are saying, we may be all lower level, but could be stuck in a corner.
And within the UNI section, the seating is based on PSC membership, season ticket holder status, etc..

Re: MVC Tourney, anyone going?
Hate to say this, but since we haven't seen them at games in C.F., I can't see them going to St. Louis. I think it is going to take us having some success at the tournament before we start selling more tickets. Losing on Friday, like 2007, doesn't make people want to buy an all session pass. Even making the semi's last year doesn't seem to be helping.Originally posted by panther2317I guess I'm surprised because UNI is 11-2 in the league and I was assuming we'd have a group of bandwagon fans come out of the woodwork. Maybe some Iowa or ISU fans who normally would go to the Big 11 or Big 12 tournament would consider spending a weekend in St. Louis with the Panthers instead.

Re: MVC Tourney, anyone going?
I can't see a whole lot doing that, since as you said they are ISU or Iowa fans. Thus, they aren't really panther fans.Originally posted by panther2317I guess I'm surprised because UNI is 11-2 in the league and I was assuming we'd have a group of bandwagon fans come out of the woodwork. Re: MVC Tourney, anyone going?
Chatty was different - that was a national championship game. And it was a one game thing. Anyone I knew who went to any UNI games in the last few years wanted to go to that game.Originally posted by panther2317No...they're dual fans...which we need more of to grow our fan base. Iowa and ISU are having down seasons...so we'd like some of the fringe fans to come along for the ride to the Arch this season.
You can't tell me that every person in purple and gold in Chatty was only a UNI fan. I saw some pretty die-hard Iowa fans wearing a UNI shirt down there. I'm hoping that can happen in St. Louis. Tag-along with your UNI friends and make it a great weekend.
As for the tournament, it still is more for the die hard basketball fans. And I have no desire to go to the Big 10 or Big 12 tournaments when UNI is having a bad year. I just don't see your logic in why Iowa or ISU fans are going to want to go to St. Louis.
