So far they have beaten Oregon, UCLA, and Minnesota. I watched some of their wins against UCLA and Minnesota. They are a fun team to watch. I wouldn't be suprised if they become ESPN's new mid major darling, like Butler or Siena. Any one know if they are involved in the Bracketbuster this year and if UNI could meet up with them?

Re: Portland
Talk about coming out of absolute nowhere...
When I heard Portland, I thought it was the Portland State Vikings.
The Portland Pilots?
This is the biggest mystery since Roy Hobbs was signed from the Eeber Oilers.Winning is more fun than losing.

Portland is not listed in the bracketbuster field this year. Honestly it's difficult to pick out a quality away team for us to play this year. No matter who they send to Cedar Falls, it should be a winnable game.__________________

Have to agree with you. Bulter is a home team also and we won't get Siena a second time this year. I think this event has run it's course for the MVC.Originally posted by UNIpanther99 View Posthttps://www.nmnathletics.com//pdf4/6...00&SPSID=36371

As for Portland, schedule wise they are in great shape w/o the Bracketbusters. They still get to play Washington and get 2 conference games against Gonzaga. It will be interesting to see if they crack the top 25 this week.

Re: Portland
I think it did at one time, but now you have basically a third of all of D1 College Basketball in the thing.Originally posted by ubuntuCAT View PostI fully disagree, I think the BB event brings a lot for the MVC and UNI.
SIU-Edwardsville? Weren't they D2 last year or the year before?__________________

Re: Portland
I thought so too, until this year. But when the best option for a game out there is Niagara, I don't see the benefit, except the chance to get on TV. Why not try to work out a challenge with the A-10, like we did with MWC, and try to get it on regional Fox Sports Channels?Originally posted by ubuntuCAT View PostI fully disagree, I think the BB event brings a lot for the MVC and UNI.

Re: Portland
I know the Mountain West thing is a multi-year deal (Six, maybe?). It will really be beneficial when the leagues start putting matchups together based on talent and expectations. Right now they are stuck with a bunch of previously signed contracts that they are making part of the challenge for this year (ie UNI-Wyoming and Creighton-New Mexico)
