Re: MVC basketball MVP
A lot of Redbird fans would argue that Dinma is more deserving this year.Originally posted by Brett Crawford View PostAdam Koch.
The best player on the best team, and he should win it; but if we split votes which is a possiblility, it would probably go to O.
I actually think Jordan's mistake will benefit Adam as there may not be as much of split vote anymore.

Re: MVC basketball POY
Interesting looking at the stats.
How the heck is Adam Koch not in the top 20 in rebounds? Very surprising to me.
No Panther in the top 10 minutes played. Shows our depth. IlSU and BU both have two players in the top 10.
The thing to note about this award though is that it is NOT an MVP award but the Valley Player of the Year. This could give it to Adam. He doesn't have any category leading awards but he is up their in most categories. OE could get it on name recognition especially if he were to make it to the championship game but looking at his numbers outside of leading the league in scoring, he isn't dominating either. This could be the closest vote in some time. Personally, I think the award goes to Adam.If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

Re: MVC basketball MVP
IMO it is between Koch, Osiris, and Odiakosa.
Osiris has the name, Odiakosa has the stats, and Koch has the wins.
Given the history of the award, I would put my money on Koch, which would be awesome.UNI FIGHT

Re: MVC basketball MVP
Good article in the DMR today on this topic. Technically they are asking who is the Panther MVP, but then when they quote conference coaches they are more talking MVC MVP. Should really be the same thing considering we ran away with the conference title.
Not sure what to make of Ali winning their poll, he isn't even included on this one. Either the Ali fan club got busy voting or a lot of voters don't know too much about UNI, maybe just watched the BB game on tv. Nothing against Ali, he can be an exciting player, but I can't see him being named MVP, too hit or miss.
I think, as indicated here, that AKoch wins this award for the team and the conference. JE may have the edge statistically speaking, but I think he took himself out of the running with his arrest and suspension.
