  • Marc Sonnen

This may have been mentioned on here before, but after watching replays of our first two games on the NCAA tournament, Marc played a very important role in those two victories. Especially the UNLV game where Kwadzo only played 8 minutes in the first half. He made some key shots, and he always seems to be around the ball and know where to be for rebounds. I hope that he continues to build off his experience as he needs to be a larger contributor next year, especially if we want to have another top 25 team next year.

Just something that was on my mind.

    Re: Marc Sonnen

Played a very nice role for us this year. Came up big in the Kansas game as well with some big rebounds.

Needs to improve his ballhandling and PG skills, if he is going to be our PG of the future IMO.

I'm a huge Sonnen fan. He is better than freshman KA.

Well this is a relief... My heart sinks everytime I see a thread with one of our player's name listed alone as the subject line, especially in the off-season.

Sonnen is solid defensively, great hands, but he will have some huge games offensively for us as well. you watch.

            Re: Marc Sonnen

The Tartan HS coach had a quote that said something to the effect that he thought Sonnen was the best of the 4 players he's had at Tartan that have come to UNI.

If you look at the numbers, Sonnen had a better freshman year than Kwadzo in terms of shooting and scoring playing 3 minutes less per game (KA also made 4 late season starts). Marc had fewer assists and a worse A/TO ratio but a slightly better rebound mark.

I really like what we have/got from our freshman this year. Jake's numbers were across the board better than Adam's as a Freshman while playing virtually he same number of minutes. AJ had limited minutes but seemed to be given more chances as the year went on, including all three NCAA games and brings a different kind of spark than anyone else.
