Is everybody but Johnny expected to play in the PTL this summer?

PTL draft was today, and play starts next week if I'm not mistaken.

Beaton tweeted that Cartwright from Iowa was the top pick. Ali was fifth.

I would be surprised if Koch and Moran played, just due to their rehab following offseason surgeries. I think they are both healing well, but they will probably not be playing full tilt this summer in a rec league. My guess is that they will probably practice this summer for Brazil, but I'm not sure if Moran will play in Brazil (I believe that's what Beaton said in an earlier blog entry).
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

Yeah that first team looks very good. Its great that 5 UNI guys get to play together on that team. That will be good for those young guys.

i think its a loophole that exempts the incoming guys from the 2-per-college-team limit

                Re: Primetime League

Team 1 looks like a favorite although I'd say team 4 (AJ's team+Mitchell and CO) could be a sleeper.....we should all be slapped in the face for not mentioning team 5 with Ali. I think we all know better than to doubt a team Ali Farokhmanesh on it.

BTW, you'd think that with all of the Hawk players that went early, they'd be some kind of powerhouse in this state. I mean a current UNI player didn't go in the first round. I would've taken AJ with the first pick and called it quits from there (obviously to be fair to the other teams since they would otherwise be at a massive disadvantage, talent-wise)

It's interesting that Matt Morrison went before so many other panthers in the draft. Looks like he was the 3rd cat picked overall.

                    Re: Primetime League

It is the same reason why all of the Iowa players went early he is from Solon and that is close to North Liberty. I would watch out for team 4 as well a lot of unknown talent there.

                      Re: Primetime League

iowa's individual talent isnt horrible. i would welcome 4 of their 5 starters at UNI. there is just a huge dropoff after that. i consider it more of a testament to what a good TEAM UNI is in terms of working as a group and a talented bench, in addition to individual skills.

that being said, there is no effing way Archie should have been picked before anyone from UNI. or cornell. or hawkeye.

morrison was great in PTL last year. he scored nearly as much as AJ, who i believed finished 2nd in scoring behind Basabe.

                        Re: Primetime League

PTL is a guard dominated summer league with little emphasis on defense. A good shooter like Morrison is more valuable than a lock down defender like Sonnen. It's not uncommon for a handful of players to shoot 50% or better from 3-pt in this league.

Because the type of play is so different than the college game, you really have to take the individual performances with a grain of salt. Often times you see players put up silly numbers in PTL only to end up riding the bench all year at their D1 school.

At least a good number of our guys will get valuable playing time together on team 1. I also noticed that AJ and Deon are on the same team so hopefully this will be a good opportunity for them to develop a chemistry as a backcourt duo. I wish I lived closer to the IC area so I could see some of these games.
