  • Cincinnati Xavier Brawl

Anyone see the end of the Cincy - Xavier game? You have to wonder how many kids will be done for the year. I'm impressed with Cincy's coach...it will be interesting to see if he follows through with his words.

    EVER LOYAL.

That coach would not fit in well at Iowa.

There's a couple guys for each team that should face lengthy suspensions or be done for the year. Especially the Cincy dbag who jacked the Xavier guy in the face and the bonehead who kicked that same guy when he was down. And I don't know why Xavier even let their players be interview after the game. Talk about making a fool of yourself and your University.
To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

Yeah, there was a big disparity between the Xavier gangsters (their own word) and the Cincy coach.

I like this Cincy coach (although he makes some interesting analogies haha). Talk about a class act! If he's being sincere there will probably be a few guys who will be expelled from the team...not suspended.

6 game suspension. Pathetic. So much for all the big talk.

i thought something like this might happen. everyone was suspended 6 games. after his comments in the presser, i have no problem with it. i think he basically is saying "you guys ****ed up and embarrassed us, but at least you had each others backs and were in it together". he was very upset at the continued actions by the X-men during the game and the officials inability to control the game.

He said he pulled the uniforms off of his players and would have to think about if they should ever be allowed to put them back on again.....and follows that up with a 6 game suspension? Are you kidding me? Talk about "talking the talk, but not walking the walk"

                    Re: Cincinnati Xavier Brawl

It's funny, last night I watched one of the local sports talk shows thewy have after the news and they mentioned the brawl and showed a clip from it and the first commercial they played was a commercial for UC basketball featuring Gates. It's all about the money, guys.

It really started last year when UC beat XUI by 20. Then a reserve from UC goes on the radio and says Tu Holloway wouldn't start for UC. I think that really riled up the X players. Despite the recent success of X and the wane of UC, this is still a UC town. X players more than likely had a huge chip on their shoulders. There was a huge amount of trash talking during the game and Cronin said X players were swearing at his assistants. 9YRPLAN had it right when he said the officials lost control of the game. It's sad, really, since this is such a big event here and it's national TV.

I would like to contrast the 6 game suspensions for kicking someone on the ground that had already been sucker punched versus the suspension meted out to a US Navy Academy starting fullback Alexander Teich.

Teich was suspended for a game for walking off the field after an overtime loss to the Air Force Academy. The Navy team gathered on field for the Air Force'sschool song (saluting the opponents). Teich has been since selected to try out to be a Navy Seal officer.

I think these two contrasting events illustrates why some athletes view themselves as different/special = not having to follow the rules everyone else does. Because some coaches, supporters, organizations do in fact treat them differently (not in a positive way).

6 game suspensions? They should be off the team. Hell, I think some should have criminal charges for assault.

A local prosecutor said he's thinking about it but I think it's all talk.

it would be dumb for the prosecutor to get involved, but i wouldnt mind seeing a civil case.

Kicking someone one the ground who just got sucker punched by your teammate should be reason enough to get booted. But I tend to be an old fuddy duddy about such things.
