This is the start of a crucial 4 game stretch to end non-conference play. Would love to see us go 3-1, but it won't be easy. After George Mason, Iowa, UNLV, and St. Mary's we start MVC play at Wichita State.

This 5 game stretch will tell us what kind of team we really have. Are we contenders in the Valley or are we going to be hoping for an NIT bid...

IMO, Mason and Iowa are must wins, St Mary's is close to it, and we have to AT LEAST split UNLV and Wichita...

I'll be curious to see the chemistry with Deon and AJ on the court at the same time.

If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

I agree, and I think that AJ did very well running the point these last two games in Deon's absence. I wouldn't mind seeing AJ come off the bench again, and have him running the point on that 2nd team essentially.

Could replace him in the starting lineup with Bohannon, or we could go big and have Buss in there.

I completely agree. This stretch of games is everything for us. We have to go on a big run here, or our at-large hopes are more or less gone, and our NCAA hopes would then come down to those 3 days in STL.

Frankly from what I have seen through the first 8 games, I don't think we are good enough to win enough of these games. Hope I'm wrong. We have to play a lot better than we have to go on the road and beat Mason, Wichita, UNLV, and a defacto road game in DM against Iowa IMO.

I just put this as what I think the starting lineup will be on Saturday, I wouldn't mind seeing Bohannon start, I mean we are undefeated when he starts.

realtimerpi has us as 10 point dogs...

then again right now it has us finishing the season 12-17 (Wartburg game doesn't count, so really 13-17) with just 6 conference wins.

to be honest..from what I've seen (all but one game)...I'd say thats not too far fetched right now. we are not playing well. A lot to work on still. I'm being optimistic by saying I hope we go 17-13.

This team found itself offensively last night. The aggression motion were better than at any point during the Jacobson Era.

Guys, we're in good shape. Lets not get all out of shape becasue we lost to Louisville and Memphis...

Side note on the Illinois State/Louisville game-- If Dieng is on the floor, Carmichael is on the bench and Louisville wins big. We didn't play the same team...

Nice post. I did not see the game. I like what everyone is saying. As off today we are tied for first in the valley. Haha

We did look good offensively, I was especially impressed with how many easy inside buckets we got. Jake played a great game last night as well, rebounding the ball and playing inside.

That said, It was Northern Colorado and they looked terrible. I am happy with how we looked, but its hard for me to put too much stock into it considering who we played. The teams we are playing the next few weeks are GOOD.

We are still technically in "good" shape right now, but the fact is that we have GOT to win most of these games. Its that simple. Not winning a game in Atlantis hurt us greatly IMO.

This is a must-win game for at-large thoughts because this is a team that we will probably compared with. We also need this to move our RPI in the right direction (sitting 200+ right now). Does it break our season with a loss? No. But a win builds the confidence and sets us up for the next 4 games.

I think we need 3 out of 4 of the non-conference for an at-large resume. Getting a win in Wichita to start Valley play would be a nice boost for conference games.
