Great story I heard today. Guy I know through work coaches 5th and 6th grade basketball in north-central Iowa. Said a 6th grade boy came to practice dressed in purple and he asked the kid if he was a Vikings fan....

My friends quote "the kid damn near read me the riot act in telling me he was a Panther fan"

That my friends is a Panther fan for life.

Great story! That sort of thing happens a lot. I have people think that I'm wearing Viking gear and then breathe a sigh of relief when they see it' UNI!

My daughters would never even consider rooting for anyone other than UNI. Even when I tell them that I am rooting for ISU or Iowa and explain why they won't do it.

Funny. We went to visit my 3-year-old boy's birth family over Christmas. When Gabe went to open one of his presents, his grandma said, "I hope this one is ok!" It was a little football shirt in blue and yellow.
I said, "Do we want Blue to win?" He said, "NO! We want Panthers to win!" I just smiled.

I hate to break it to you, but that is never going to happen. I would love to see a dramatic decline in the amount I see but I don't think it will ever be gone!

It'll never disappear completely. I work at ISU and we see black and gold walking around campus on a fairly regular basis. It sure would be nice if it were an oddity rather than the norm in Cedar Falls though.

Tell me about it. My baby turns three in a week and a half. That's the baby that was born right before the Kansas game. That baby got to lay on my lap while I watched the Kansas game. Talk about a memory.

One child at a time is right- My 3 year old son (who was just 2 months old during the Kansas game - hubby held him because I was afraid I'd end up dropping him in all my anxiety!!) is rather obsessed with the "great big Panther water tower". So today he wanted to find a purple shirt to wear so he could be just like the Panther water tower.

Oh - and at Kindergym in the WRC we end each session doing the Interlude. Nothing like watching a bunch of 2-4 year olds rocking to the Interlude!

I live in Iowa city and I see panther gear all the time. I know I might notice it more than regular person.
