  • Alford to UCLA?

    Discuss....
You don't break out the Purple and Gold on game days or look for special gifts and gadgets bearing the colors because you want to be seen among the loyal. Purple and Gold aren't colors you see---they're colors you feel. They run through your veins with a continuous roar.

I think he is perfect for the job. An arrogant coach and an arrogant basketball program.

UCLA has a right to a little arrogance, given their success. That's easily a top 10 job. Alford has had some success, although he's not a top 10 coach. What bugs me about him is the hypocritical religous BS.

Douche bag for douche bag school. Perfect. This is a gift for all of New Mexico. Plus now he is even further away from Iowa. Although his stench still lingers.

He may not be a top 10 coach, but he's got to be in the top 5 of all coaches available at this very moment.

I think it was a pretty big commitment, not only on the school's part, but it
was a pretty big commitment on my part especially what's out there and the
opportunities that are out there to show my loyalty to UNM and how much I appreciate UNM and how much I want to continue to build this thing."

Soon as I saw that I wondered how many years he'll last.

I'm still recalling the cover-up he was part of at the end of his career at Iowa.

A leading Twin Cities sportscaster, on a radio talk show this morning, just called him "vile" for leaving for USC just hours after signing the UNM contract extention. Thought some of you would enjoy hearing that.

Andy Enfield went to USC which I think may be the better hire. Plays a style that would be very attractive to recruits.
"Lot of people talked about Ohio State or Georgetown or Michigan State or whoever, [or] Maryland in our bracket. When the brackets came out, the first team I looked at was Northern Iowa," Kansas Coach Bill Self.

I'm hearing second hand that he threw the U of I under the bus during his UCLA press conference today. It could turn into an issue, we'll see.
