New scoreboard for Wichita State

I was in Wichita this past week and news article had a new scoreboard being installed at Koch arena.



Koch Arena will debut its new scoreboard, installed in August, at an athletic event at 6 p.m. Thursday when Wichita State plays Missouri State. The Daktronics scoreboard, and a new sound system, costing $1.8 million, open a high-definition world of possibilities for highlights, advertising, updates and crowd prompts.

am I high in thinking that something like this could easily be moved back and forth from the Dome to McLeod? I know obviously not "easy" but a days work for a crew of 10 guys? Would this look tiny in the dome?

Yes, you are high.

The cost associated with disassembling, moving, and reassembling a system like this more than you think. Forget about the risks associated with moving crazy expensive video/audio equipment.

How would you get it in and out of the McLeod center without taking it completely apart and putting it back together?

I don't think a center hanging scoreboard is a good idea for the Uni-Dome due to possible height issues.

With so many places upgrading their scoreboards, I would have to think we could get a good deal on some used scoreboards that are 10x better than the current Dome boards.

How would you get it in and out of the McLeod center without taking it completely apart and putting it back together?

So.... they do that down in iowa city with Fran's ego every home game.

they could possibly put it where that cluster of speakers is in the center of the dome. but yeah, they're probably better off just upgrading the boards on the ends.

It still may not be the best solution but I wouldn't call him high. Look it all the concerts on tour that have crazy amounts of expensive audio/video equipment that is taken all over the country almost daily.

Oh and I think a center hung board would be sweet. Something unique that you can only do with an indoor facility.
