  • The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of 12/6/2005

    The Good:

-Benny doing his usual and coming on only when the pressure is at its highest
-JLitt defending and hitting a big three, again.
-Coleman becoming better by the second and owning one of the best post men in the B10
-Benny's defense against Haluska(pregame avg over 14pts/gm) held him to 3pts
-Crawford doing all the little things, all the time and the big ones too with the three, and defending Brunner when Stout was out
-Brooks opening three to start the game set a tone
-Grant was an animal when he wanted to be
-Atila hitting a turn-around jumper in the lane
-Coleman's rebound in the weining moments of the game
    -Mac's Maniac's, nuff said there

    The Bad:

-Driving 14 hours in day, and the truck not starting in the cold after the game
-Grant getting hurt late in the game
-Horner getting a possilbe knee injury
-The attitude of Iowa fans who werent even there to support thier team

    The UGLY:

-The last 6 minutes of the first half, we went through the motions again, like at ISU
-The "panther fans" sitting behind me who whined the whole damn game. "Player of the year my ass, he cant even catch the ball", "Here we go again, can't make 3 to save our lives", "How are we supposed to be good again", "Why isnt "so and so" in right now?", "

(Those kind of people piss me off so much I don't have words for it)

-the athletic depts very inept seating and ticket management, as the players PARENTS did not have seats for the game, they didnt set up a row of seats nor reserve seats in the stadium seats for them either, the parents and families of the players had to steal seats as they had no seats saved and just started giving them tickets all spread out and everywhere, most above row 30 in sections outside of the curtain would usually be at games.

Sorry for the rant at the end, but I had to say it, that was ridiculous.

Huge win over very good team, enjoy it today, and get ready for UMKC, they are a great team as well and will be looking for some revenge as we beat them at thier home last year. GO PANTHERS!!!!

Wow... these guys sound like those schmucks who told me to shut up at the Upper Iowa game. Tell them to go back to rooting for Iowa again. Who needs 'em.

I'm going to use this because I think it's the greatest smily ever invented and I haven't found a use for it yet...

Did anyone else have parking problems?

        But it was worth it!
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

I know that some of my family, who have the athletic club parking passes (or whatever, its a "gold" pass??) had a lot of trouble with the parking situation, I think that the school put too much pressure on the athletic dept to make this a big deal of very old alums, and donors who dont even actually know the team while making it hard for the fans who are there for every game cheering and supporting the students out on the floor.

I will echo the ticket thing. That is a shame ther was not a place for parents. Also, even though student ticketing was really general admission on the floor, my ticket said "South Floor Chairs". They must have been invisible and tiny because I was in the 2nd row of the bleachers in the south end and was only about 6 feet from the floor!!

I think, according to your ticket, that you were supposed to sit in the chairs on the South side instead of the bleachers. (By Comparison I had a North Bleachers ticket.) Although, I think you're right that it was pretty much General Admission on the floor as no one really checked to make sure you were in the right section once you got past the checkpoint to make it to the floor.

bcrawf... I was wondering the same thing!! There were student tickets that said north bleachers, south bleachers, and mine said south chairs.... Where the heck were the chairs?! I ended up four rows back and directly behind the hoop which made it slightly difficult to see as well as I wouldve liked. I wasn't going to whine about it, but I was confused because I was given this ticket directly from the marketing department being recognized as one of the "diehard" maniacs from last year (never missed a single home game) and they said that they wanted to give us "special seats". Glad you brought it up and I wasn't the only one confused by the "invisible chairs"
"OH BABY! I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!" -GR

I know a few others who are AC members that were not allowed to enter the AC parking lot because it was already full. Unfortunately, it is a "First come, First serve basis....and it says so right on the back of your parking pass that it is not a guarentee that you will be able to park in your section.

The thing that irks me is when you see UNI AC members get out of their cars wearing black and gold!!

I was more upset with the fact that I was on Hudson Road for 30 minutes and at the corner of Nebraska and 20-somethingth street for 5-10 minutes (and I got to Hudson Road at 6:15). The crowd/traffic control wasn't very good. People were walking kiddy-corner, and thus blocking traffic from all four ways. I could have turned right, with no traffic, but the traffic cop wouldn't let me. I was just very surprised. If I don't have a AC pass, I don't get a parking spot.

But like I said, it was all worth it!

                          Let's be accurate...

... on the seating situation. I saw all the parents who normally come to weeknight games (Jacobsons, McKowens, Viets, Jostens, etc.) sitting in chairs right behind our players seats. None of them ever sit in chairs directly behind the players for any other home games. Those seats are usually reserved for potential recruits and their parents. So despite an entirely different seating configuration for the game and apparently some confusion in who should sit where, it looks to me like the parents were accommodated by being seated right behind the players seats. What am I missing?

So, were they using an AC pass or were they actual members of the AC?

"...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."
