Confession time. I'm an Iowa State fan first (except for Swimming & Diving). I went to the UNI MBB game at Iowa State in 2011. At that time I was still very skeptical of the Hoiberg hire. Nice guy, but with guys like Royce White, it seemed like Hoiberg coached according to my stereotype of the NBA, namely, just throw good players out on the court and say nice things to keep them motivated. UNI came into Hilton, played with discipline and intelligence, and beat Iowa State. As I recall Iowa State was never really even in the game. The UNI help defense was great. UNI passes to back door cutters made Iowa State look like they were sleeping. I recall really liking the way UNI played and not caring much for Iowa State's style of play. I don't think I went to another game until late in the season when I started recognizing how good Hoiberg really was as a coach. Yes, I was a UNI MBB fan before I became UNIdadtobe.

So UNI isn't your first choice as a fan?

Dual Iowa State/UNI fan. Moved to Ames 11 years ago and became a big ISU fan. Now I have a daughter at UNI and have become a big fan. However, I was enjoying and cheering for UNI in the FCS playoffs even before that.

Tailgated in Ames and Cedar Falls on Saturday! A perfect day, except for the outcome of the other game.

P.S. In January, I will be wearing purple to the Iowa State pool and cheering loudly for UNI!

This site has pretty good historical stats on most sports. http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/...d-to-head.html Pretty cool to dig around and see who the Panthers have beat and how they've done against some bigger programs, only problem is the stats only go back to the 79-80 season

This was the game where freshman Seth Tuttle dominated the boards and scoring against a more experienced Royce White. It also marked the best game of Matt Morrison's UNI career when he hit four three pointers, all at critical times for us to maintain a lead and a victory.

I don't remember the details, but I remember being really, really impressed with the discipline and teamwork of UNI.

Did anyone happen to catch the TV graphic near the end of the UNI vs. Iowa game this weekend. I thought it said something along the lines that UNI has the most wins against the Big Ten of any non-power 5 team ever. Am I remembering that correctly? Can anyone clarify?

In 1994 we lost to Nebraska in OT at the Five Seasons Center in Cedar Rapids. I had choice seats to this one as a youngster and remember watching a Jason Sims tip kiss the rim too hard at the end of regulation. Real memorable game against a then-Big 8 cellar dweller.

That was a memorable game.

Well it looks like we have 13 wins against B10, 14 if Nebraska counts, but they weren't in B10 when we beat them. I would imagine that would be a record number for a non-power 5 team. We benefited quite a bit from Iowa playing us 20 some times.

Creighton has beaten Nebraska a lot, again mostly when they were not B10.

Creighton has beaten Nebraska a lot, again mostly when they were not B10.

Yeah, the Nebraska-Creighton series is 25-23 in favor of Nebraska, so if you are counting the Huskers, Creighton easily has the most wins (including some assumed other wins against Big Ten teams along the way).
