    Re: Parking

It's sad that people wouldn't return for another game because of the time they wait to leave. Too many people want instant this or that...gosh you just watched the #14 MBB in the country win their 11th straight! Enjoy it!

That isn't the way people think though. Look how many people poured out of the arena under 5 minutes. If they are concerned about getting home earlier they could park and walk 2 extra minutes.

I just don't understand the flow of traffic only allowing the PSC lots north of 27th onto 27th and the other lots are all directed south. Just seems like a mess.

        Re: Parking

Exactly traveling panther, if they sent the west lots to the north and onto Hudson from North of the WRC and had the SE lot exit onto 27th street and the SW lot go south the way they are now would make the most sense and be the safest for people crossing 27th street after the game.

I agree. Facts are facts we don't always draw well and if this is an area where the event planners can improve the experience lets look into it.

            Re: Parking

Its stupid if 5000 people at a game have to wait over 30 minutes to get out of a parking lot. We are probably talking the number of vehicles being less than 2000.

After the WSU game we took our time leaving, soaking it all in. McLeod was almost empty and when we got to our car we waited a good 30 minutes to exit that south lot.

The only parking lot worse to get out of is that Target/Scheels lot on Viking road during the holidays.

Hope I am reading your description right.

The west lot and McLeod lot ARE directed north and must go up and around the WRC, in my experience, until the road is backed up all the way from Hudson Road to the McLeod lot exit. Then they start to allow cars from both lots to exit either to the north or south.

What you describe sometimes happens but after the Drake game, the west Dome lot and McLeod lot were directed south to 27th in both lanes, which made getting out slower. You may have gotten out of the McLeod sooner than we did however and experienced a different flow pattern.

                  Re: Parking

I was in the non season ticket PSC lot and really wanted to North to 27th St., then West to Union Rd to University to Hwy 20. Not. There are more cars in the lots South of 27th St. than North, why not let those who want to West, go North first? On the other hand, what a great problem to have!! I want to have to wait to get out. I want parking issues to be discussed. This is a great problem to have and let's not make too much of it.

Does seem like low hanging fruit.

I tend to think that those who complain about parking are whiners. However, since we are still at a stage where we need to build the fanbase, we need to take the complaints seriously. Was exiting the parking lot addressed much by the game day experience committee? I don't remember a question about it on the recent survey. It seems like a few things could be done that would go a long way to make the experience better for the folks we are trying to get there. They are the ones who won't know the parking tricks and will be the most surprised by the long delays.

Has anyone actually ever heard anyone complain about it?

For those of us who grew up Panther fans and have been highly involved in UNI athletics, the call has always been "we need to get the community more involved". "The community" are the people who can come to a game once, experience something that isn't a big deal to "the regulars" and decide not to come back without ever notifying anyone that they find it to be an issue.

This parking issue seems like something that would be relatively easy to work out without any cost involved.

Personally, I'm not in a hurry to get home to put the kids were in bed or catch the forecast on the 10 o clock news before drinking a warm glass of milk and heading to bed, but some people are.

People who want to come out to a night game may not want to spend two hours at the game followed by an hour in their car before leaving the lots. By having this discussion the many people on this board involved in the AD and PSC can help bring suggestions to the staff in charge of parking and police department.

It seems like there has to be a better way to be safe and make good use of everyone's time.

Saturday I was walking towards the exit at 8:55 and in my house at 9:16.
Listened to post-game on the radio on the way.

I took my dad home and was still home before 9:30. But we knew to expect issues and planned for it. But we didn't expect to have cars following us on the sidewalk.

I get there early and park as close to the exit as possible, and always make sure to back in. I do think however that UNI and the city of Cedar Falls need to look into fixing the problem, not really sure how but there should be a solution, I mean football never seems to be a problem.

Surely someone on this forum knows someone who can do something about this. It is ridiculous that something this easy isn't fixed. Or maybe there is some brilliant reason not to fix it that we don't see. Let's go PN, somebody step up and use your connections and clout.
