Re: McDermott
Prior to Lucas breaking his ankle in 2010-2011 UNI was 18-6 (9-3) and had won 8 in a row by an average MOV of about 9 PPG. There was no other post player for UNI that season. Doug being there to step in helps soften that blow that season took. The remaining schedule was Drake (7th), Evansville (6th), WSU (2nd), Bradley (10th), ISUb (3rd) plus bracket buster. The way UNI was playing it is entirely likely that UNI wins at least 4 if not 5 or 6 of the remaining regular season games, rather than 1, and finishes at something like 23-8 (14-4). No, Doug doesn't put his CU numbers up at UNI but remember he lead the conference in field goals made, 2 point field goals made, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, total rebounds, and effective FG%. He would have made a big difference for UNI that year.
2011-2012 was an NIT season the way it stood already, and that's with Tuttle starting every game as a true freshman and Deon Mitchell starting 24 of 34 games as a true freshman. Also involved Marvin Singleton playing pretty decent minutes as a true freshman and a guy like Austin Pehl (as nice as he may have been) playing in 32 games.
