I really don't like this argument, as we're all Panthers and we know that we wouldn't be where we are now if it weren't for either one of these two players. But Hime, I have to disagree with you that Stout is indeed the better player. Jacobson's shooting percentange might not be the "desired" percentage but he is invaluable to this team. I know I'm just repeating what many have said, but he is definitely the leader, his defense has improved and he WANTS THAT BALL when the game is on the line. Not taking anything away from Stout - I love 'em both equally. And I would be pleased with whoever of the two gets POY. But I think this comparison among Panther fans about which one is the better UNI basketball player is unfair and takes away from what this entire team has done. Each player is valuable in his own way, and I'm just pleased as punch that we're the lucky ones that get to have 32 and 12 on our side
"...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

Oh come on...no one is arguing who the "better player is", we are debating who is more deserving of the league MVP. Jacobson could very well be a "better player" than Stout, but Stout is getting the job done each and every night out; both offensively and defensively. Jacobson needs to start hitting a few more shots if he really is the best player in the league.

I agree that Stout should be the MVP as well. Just because a guy wants the ball in his hands at the end of the game does not mean he is your most valuable player. There are lots of guys that want the ball, just look at the Lakers a few years ago Kobe always wanted the ball, but Shaq was definitely a more valuable player on that team. I am not trying to compare Jacobson and Stout to those two, just making a point. Also I think at this point McDermott may want Stout to take some of the late shots instead of Jacobson because he has more confidence in him. He did call Stout's number instead of Jacobson a time or two this year.

And with the way Jacobson has been shooting the ball he cannot be the MVP. Only being over 50% shooting in 4 games is not an MVP type of player. I think Jacobson has improved in some areas like defense and ball handling this year, but his shooting is bad. He forces a lot of shots and does not look aggressive. Just look at J Little tonight and how he took the ball to the rim. That is what Jacobson should do and then he'd get to the line a lot more as well. Hopefully he will turn in on here near the end of the year because in order to make it far in any tournament you need that go-to-guy and thus far he has not been it.

I think we can give this whole debate a rest. We probably pissed away our chance to win the conference tonight and have any Panther named POY.

I think Ben has the better shot just because the senior always gets the edge.

Stout with another double-double last night. Didn't get the ball enough.

Sorry CF Panther, I wasn't trying to say that everyone is arguing that. In my comment, I made mention of that because in Hime's post, he said that Stout was a better player, and I wanted to politely disagree with that assessment.
