  • UNI v Bucknell...this is the moment

Big game, big crowd, big audience, big opportunity today.

In just a few short weeks, CBS will cram "One Shining Moment" down our gullets as somebody cuts down the nets.

As far as I'm concerned, our moment is now. Our March begins this morning. This is where we solidify our tournament resume, clinch our seed, set the stage for the best march in school history, to match the best season in school history.

Today is the day we, again, remind the world what we all know. That UNI is the oft forgotten gem of our great state. That we, with fewer resources, fewer fans, less opportunity, less money and no where near the exposure, can accomplish anything that our more well-known brothers in Ames and Iowa City can. That when people think of Iowa Basketball, the first thought can and should be the UNI Panthers.

Beyond that, the throne as the best team in the best non-BCS league is open and ours for the taking. Who cares if the trophy will be sittin the the McLeod Center next year, perception is reality, and we can take the crown and hoist it high on our collective heads today.

Every Cinderella doesn't begin in some neutral court gym in March, it starts on a cold February day where some team looks at that castle on the hill and says "We belong there" and starts to believe in the improbable. They all have the same goal, not just to spend a night at the ball, but to become the belle, to wear the crown.

We have that opportunity. If ESPN and CBS will soon be running stories about the Cinderella from Cedar Falls, we will all remember that it began in earnest today.

Get on up...the time is now! GO PANTHERS!

Early Saturday line; well only an hour before tip has us favored by 6?? I dunno about that one without Crawford and Little at 100%...

Sitting in Costa Rica, in the middle of a coffe plantation, where it is 81 degrees. Listening to Gary & Kevin on the internet. Doesn't get much better than that.

          Go Panthers!

Digger picked us, Duke Bilas picked Bucknell. My sources inside the Dome say its already rocking, and I know I'm really pumped up. This is beyond huge for this program. Go Panthers!!!

Bojingles, I've heard some interesting stories about Costa Rica. Never been myself, but heard it was an awesome experience on several levels. Give us some feedback on your return.

P.S. Nice old school Hill bar reference. It brings back memories of talking with Do-Dah at the door and dancing to Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Safe travels.

I just hope that if things don't go our way today, that everyone doesn't jump off the bus. The above says it all, JLit and Crawford at less than 100% impacts our performance in this game. If we loose, keep in mind those two will be healthy in the MVC tourney and dance. That's where it matters. This game is more about NCAA seeding than anything else, it doesn't make or break our season. That having been said, I've got the same pre-game jitters as everyone else. T-minus 27 minutes and counting!

Why are we settling for contested fade away jumpers!

A lot of shots falling short and hitting front iron. It looks like the Panthers have tired legs.

It's a shame we couldn't pull out a win in that "close loss" we had to LSU. That is, if we live in the world according to Jay Bilas. Nice job doing your homework, Mr. Duke.

I thought that dropped ball was going to cost us the game.

Yep, but what we need right now is this...UNI NEEDS TO STEP ON BUCKNELL'S THROAT AND CLOSE THE SALE.
