  • Halftime Question & Rant

Why the hell are we standing around on offense??? At least, it appears that way. Why aren't we making Bucknell work harder at the defensive end of the floor? We just don't look like we have a sense of urgency on offense. I'm not talking about forced shots, but why not more motion so we can create something insted of taking a bad shot with the clock running down.

Rant over...someone with more B-ball X&O knowledge than I help me out here. Is there something Bucknell is doing which forces this? I'm not trying to second guess Mac and staff, but watching us on offense this year has been pretty frustrating at times. We can win this game. Go Panthers and kick Bucknell's a$$!!! Nothing would look better than a Bison skin hanging in the dome. Why couldn't someone invite Ted Nugent to sing the National Anthem?

The offense was definately hard to watch for the end of the 1st half and much of the 2nd. We seem too content to run that little motion at the top of the key.

There's not a lot of passing or cutting toward the basket. We're not putting any pressure on the defense. We need to take it to the basket. Don't worry about some blocked shots or a couple turnovers. Don't let the defense dictate what you're doing on offense.

In overtime we were running some sets, creating some space and taking it toward the basket. That got the defense on their heels.

We have to feel really, really fortunate to get this win today. The effort down the stretch was great, and several guys stepped up huge at key moments, but we only played about 20-25 minutes of winning offense in regulation. We need a much more consistent effort with a more aggressive offense for the rest of the season.

Bucknell was tough though. They have to be wondering how they could have possibly lost that game.
Winning is more fun than losing.

My thoughts exactly Blue42. We were very fortunate to send it to overtime, as we were outplayed and (dare I say it) outcoached for a good sized chunk of regulation. We need to be more agressive offensively. By the way, that's not a job at Mac and staff above. I don't think there's a coach in the world who hasn't been outcoached at some point. My thinking behind the comment was they were getting a lot of open looks in regulation, and really seemed to have our D figured out at times. On offense, we were very frustrating to watch in regulation, and a lot of our shots were bad and contested. Don't get me wrong, I'll take the win. We need to improve though.

It is a bit unsettling to watch a team play your style of ball better than you are.

In Mac's post-game interview he straight out said they were lost about what to do against the match-up zone. He said Travis Brown pulled them out of the fire hitting those threes, because they weren't coming up with anything else to beat that defense.

Coaches get better just like players. I'm sure the staff will watch that tape and get some ideas for how to attack that type of d.

Bucknell just did a 'better' job of creating off the dribble and moving the action towards the bucket.

We're lucky to get the win, but that was a gritty ass effort from our boys, I was proud as hell.

I said towards the end of regulation, as well as in the first OT, that we needed to get our big men more touches...and look what we did in the 2nd OT to get the win.

This is a very, very, very big win for us.

You're right News. Just like the football team this year, it's one cardiac adventure after another.

I've been saying the exact same thing. This team is going to wait until their backs are against the wall before we start playing our kind of bb. Good win today! Now, we really, really need to beat Bradley Wed. night. That game is going to be huge for us.
