I see this after each loss when comments like this are made... you aren't focusing on the whole bredth of the thread. No one has mailed it in!!! We're still talking NCAA and NIT on this board. I'm sorry but you are flat out wrong for thinking we can't be disappointed with the ladder. Yeah, a year from now, if we do end up in the NIT, we might look back and say, "hey, how cool is it that we can hang another banner?" But that's a reflection thing... let us do that at the proper time. Right now IS NOW and it IS DISAPPOINTING!!!

No one here isn't a Panther fan my friend. We all are and just because some of the younger fans didnt have to live thru the struggles as much as you did, doesn't mean that they can't be disappointed and be venting here.

I want you to take a look around PP... notice that after other losses recently the amount of people spouting off similar statements like yours was pretty high. Now where are they??? People were willing to say "be positive 100% of the time, get behind this team, you're not a real fan," yada, yada, yada because there were a lot more games left to right the ship.

Now we're facing a 2 game season. IMHO, you win one of those two and you are in (and if the one is in the tourney, then obviously, you have another) but it is a lot more of a nerve racking situation than it was, say, after the MSU game. Look, I'm not inviting more and more people to post negatively, but I think more and more people are realizing that it is ok to vent and not be a "bad fan".

I also want you to take a look at the thread entitled "PASSION" started by UNI92 (a poster that you think highly enough to quote yourself). His statements are right on. There was a time when no one cared enough to vent... so I'll take the venting any day.

I'm happy you care, Madcat. Just disappointed to see this board last night turn into something that more closely resembled Hawkeyereport. Vent if you will, but stick with the team through thick and thin and don't join the many frontrunner Panther fans who have come and gone over the years based on our athletic programs/teams success. Peace.

      AMEN.

I know this isn't the case, but it sounds like a lot of people want credit for sitting through those Sam Weaver years when those teams were terrible. We have moved on, and we need to have higher expectations. We can't afford to just be satisfied with a winning season. We're better than that and we know it.

If I have a 2.25 GPA one semester followed by a 3.5 the next, I should expect a 3.5 or something close every semester because of what I'm capable of. If I put in a 2.70 semester, there shouldn't be anyone telling me, "Well, that's better than the 2.25, so you're awesome." NO, I should be fulfilling my expectation of myself.

      Yes, I realize that's a terrible analogy.

Regardless of the classes that you were taking? Regardless of out of class issues? Regardlesss of the other students in the class pushing the curve higher?

See, there is always someone out there trying to be better than you. Sometimes they will get the best of you. Sometimes, regardless of how hard you work or how much effort you put in, you're not going to perform up to your potential.

        Just my 2 cents.

Where was I looking for credit? What I stated was fact. We have a frontrunning fanbase. Every school has them. As I shared with Madcat, hopefully you will continue to support the team despite being disappointed about the outcome. My guess is you will and that you'll also continue to have more dramatic emotional swings until you get a little older. That's not a knock. I had one of the shortest tempers around until settling down, getting married and having a couple of kids. Age and experience has an incredible way of shaping perspective.

This is probably true, and you DEFINITELY didn't want to see me immediately following the game last night... yeeesh.

Anyway, UNI fans need to be grateful of where we've come from, and I'm pretty sure that's the point you're trying to make. Believe me, I saw some of the last vestiges of Sam Weaver's teams when I started coming to games my senior year in high school (his last year). I wholeheartedly agree with the person who said "At least we have people who care enough to be upset." I think that's what it is, mostly. We hear the same nonsense from Cubs' fans every September, and yet after all, "Wait 'till next year." If people start abandoning this team, then yes, they deserve to be beaten with reeds. In the meantime, I think people are just frustrated now more than anything.

Ya, football is D-IAA but I don't expect you to know too much about seeings how you will be donning the Black and Gold in September anyway. Crawford was a player on the teams that went to a 64 team tournament (65 technically) and football goes to a 16 game tournament, but go ahead and try to look down on it anyway because it was I-AA, I am so tired of you, now you are looking to degrade Tom, what the hell do you know. What, let me guess, you played high school football and your 3-A team barely missed the playoffs so you know everything right, all I am trying to do is give a scenario here SINCE ERIC CRAWFORDS RETURN UNI IS 1-3? Coincedence? Probably, worth talking about? Absolutely! This board is becoming a freaking joke, if its not talk about McDermont its people like you trying to act like they know what the he!! is going on, I will tell you right now I know absolutely nothing about basketball other than wins and losses, but I can tell you about team chemistry and how players coming and going, getting hurt or getting better can effect it, WE HAVE NO CHEMISTRY RIGHT NOW! But don't sit here and talk negatively about a quarterback, mostly a person that you don't even freaking know. I have said some stupid crap on this board about other people but it is nothing that I wouldn't say to their face so why don't you do this, call up Tom (i'll give you his number, pm me) and tell him he sucks, cool?
One things is I hate the Hawks so don't give me that crap. Two, I have been coming to UNI football games and basketball games since I was 6 or 7 and cheering for them so as you can see I am very loyal to the Purple and Gold. Crawford's winning % is 1% lower than Petrie's so it's pretty much the same.

It is really true that you know nothing about basketball. I can see that from your posts. I think our team has always had chemistry. Right now we are making stupid plays on offense and defense and not putting the ball in the hole. Remember, this is the same team that went 14-3 with Crawford at the beginning of the season. If we didn't have any team chemistry, we wouldn't have gone 14-3 in the beginning of the season so get off the Crawford bit.

Personally I would rather take Brooks out of the line-up now but that is just me and I am not MD. I'm done with this squabble. Later.
