Did anyone else hear Benny's interview with Rima postgame? He said Mac called out a couple of guys for not being ready to play tonight. Not sure who, and it doesn't do any good to name names, but to me that's inexcusable against a team playing as well as BU. Hopefully that lights a fire under whoever it was, but damn, there's too much at stake right now to not be ready to go. I didn't get to hear Mac, can someone let us know what he said?

I also haven't seen the boxscore, but BU shot, what, 70% from the field in the second half??? That's also inexcusable if you call yourself a good defensive team. KB made it sound like Bradley was just hot, but to those who watched - were we in their face defensively?

Bradley had there way with us. They dominated every aspect of the game from the tip. Let's face it they are playing to win, we are playing not to lose. We are running out of time for someone to step up and take control of this situation.

I think a big time ace chewing is appropriate.

Thats the problem with playing all of these minutes. Mac can not run an intense practice to get their attention. He has already run them into the ground and really they can not condition. I looked up the box score and Jacobsen, Crawford, and Stout all played over 25 minutes against Upper Iowa!! Mac did a poor ob of trying to develop bench early. If you put a Josten or Santos in against and Upper Iowa or FAMU, it gives them a chance to develop a confidence that can carry over to the rest of the season!!

bcrawf, I agree. I would have liked to see more time out of more of the reserves this year. It was hard to sit through a game like tonight (especially the second half) knowing that the rock isn't falling and also knowing that there are some guys on the bench (Adam) that could have had a chance to spark our offence. I will agree that our bench has lots of potential, but the chances for them to shine have been few this year. Yes, I know the arguments will come saying that they didn't play well on a few games, and I will have to agree with that comment. However, I wish they would have had more game-time experience going in to the playoffs, and more importantly, next year. Anyway, those are just some of my opinionated thoughts.

To those who say Mac did a poor job of developing a bench early, I must use the old adage: "You can't make chicken salad out of chicken-you-know-what."

You can't create a bench if guys 8,9,10,11 aren't that good. They've got the starting five, John Little, Travis Brown, and a little bit of Josten and Santos. And that's it.

Adam Viet had injuries, but doesn't have the quickness to be a guy who plays a lot of minutes in the Valley. The JUCO kid must not have been good enough to play either, because McKowen hasn't exactly lit the world on fire this season. Griffin is just a walk-on and the other kids are redshirting.

Obviously, UNI is tired and the leg-weariness has plagued them for a couple of weeks now, but don't blame it on coaching. In my opinion with the job that Mac and his staff do, they are beyond reproach from the Panther fans.

Bradley did shoot very well tonight, but we gave them way too many easy looks. One thing that is really botherin me with Mac's coaching was the start of the game. I would have called the timeout when we were down 11-4 because we were flat and Bradley was on fire. No, Mac sits and waits for the under 16 media timeout. Finally, by the time we are down 17-4 and the damage is done Mac calls the timeout. It just ticks me off that coaches wait for the media timeout!! When you need a timeout, you need a timeout it's that simple. From my point of view we were behind the 8 ball from that point on. Yes, we did cut the lead down to five at one point. Hey that's what they pay Mac the big bucks for and not me. Just to clarify, I'm not calling out coach Mac. I'm just stating what I thought should have been done.
Coach Whisenhunt 1/18/09. "There was never any complaints about not being named the starter, all he wanted was an opportunity and he took advantage of it. Kurt is probably one of the greatest individuals you'll ever meet. Kurt worked hard on a lot of things that a lot of times older quarterbacks aren't willing to do. That's a credit to his humility and his competitive drive, and the reason that we are here today in great part is what Kurt Warner has done for us."
