I posted this within another thread but I think it bears repeating:

If my research is correct, in the history of the RPI only one team with an RPI of 37 or better has ever been left out of the dance (1999, Missouri State with an RPI of 34). Our RPI will be around 25 and will likely be one of the best in the MVC.

Sleep easy. It's Creighton and the SIU/BU loser that have to sweat for 7 days.

The Way I see it Bradley, WSU, and we are in at this point. If SIU wins then they're the 4th bid and if they lose then it's a toss up between CU and MSU for the 4th bid.

we are not a lock by any means, we need some games to go our way. We are playing bad right now and we need to get our heads out of our asses. If everything goes okay, we will be in, any upsets in tourny's and then we are screwed. I say we are sitting between 24-34 right now. We need a lot, i still think we are better than T A&M, FSU, Seton Hall, and Colorado. But good luck getting ESPN to realize that

Just for the record ESPN has as much to do with the selections as I do with controlling the laws of gravity. Digger and Dickie thought some great injustice was done when we got in last year. The committee is smart, the committe watches games, the committe is MORE THEN HALF MID-MAJOR in background (4 of 11 from the Ivy League alone). That all plays in our favor. We're not a lock, but I think its a matter of things having to go very much not our way rather then the other way around.

What does ESPN have to do with the selection comittee?

Any upsets and we are screwed??? Did you not read what I wrote? No one in the 20s has ever been left out. Explain then why we would be the exception? And the explanation can't just be b/c espn said so. If Digger had his way, Notre Dame would be in the tourney so you can't trust anything this guy says.

You might mean a different season as far as the former SW Missouri. 1999 was the season they reached the Sweet 16 beating Wisconsin and Tennessee with their Hall of Fame Coach Steve Alford.
"Lot of people talked about Ohio State or Georgetown or Michigan State or whoever, [or] Maryland in our bracket. When the brackets came out, the first team I looked at was Northern Iowa," Kansas Coach Bill Self.

That means Missouri State has to be in as well, with an RPI right around 25.

I think 5 teams get in and I think Creighton is the one that will be doing some NIT-Picking come a week from now.

Could be S. Illinois if they lose today. I remember reading somewhere that with double-digit losses (I beleive the Salukis have 10), that an at-large bid could be tough to get for a "mid-major" like S. Illinois.

If they do win, I agree with Hime. I think Creighton is in the NIT.

OK, to start out I believe that we should be in, but there is still the possibility that we could be left out of the big dance. We are 4-6 in our last 10 games. I believe that is the same as WSU was last year and they got left out. We are also 2-5 in our last 7 games and I think that we only played UNI basketball for one half of those 7 games and that was the second half of the MSU game. We are squarely sitting on the bubble no matter how you put it. If we would have got the Win yesterday against SIU I think that we would have been a lock, but we didn't. Yes, it went into OT which should help us out, but we just couldn't finish. I don't care what the RPI says and all this other junk. We are on the bubble and will be sweating it out on Selection Sunday.
Coach Whisenhunt 1/18/09. "There was never any complaints about not being named the starter, all he wanted was an opportunity and he took advantage of it. Kurt is probably one of the greatest individuals you'll ever meet. Kurt worked hard on a lot of things that a lot of times older quarterbacks aren't willing to do. That's a credit to his humility and his competitive drive, and the reason that we are here today in great part is what Kurt Warner has done for us."

The last 10 games for the Panthers are pretty much a clone of what Wichita did last year, but the Shockers didn't have wins over teams like Iowa and at LSU on their resume.

In my year's of following the Big Dance...zero teams have not made the Big Dance with an RPI in the 20's. The Panthers are in.
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

UNI IS IN; BOOK IT. Now it's time to root for the fewest upsets possible and root against bubble teams playing this week so that there remains a possibility of 6 MVC schools. Right now, Creighton is on the outside looking in IMO. The other 5 Valley teams are in.

                            Agreed CF Panther,

The Valley tournament produced the exact scenario needed to get 6!!

I believe the Panthers are in, regardless of what happens next week. Sure, it would have been great to finish strong, but it didn't happen. They still have an RPI worthy of the tournament and the resume to support it. What stinks, though, is that now they are going to be that low seed that we all were thinking they would avoid about a month ago. But then again....the bigger the seed...the harder they fall!!!
