In today's WSJ - Arrests Expected in Probe of Alleged Bribery, Kickbacks at College Basketball Programs

Will this turn into the basketball equivalent of the Fulmer Cup? My gut tells me that somehow Pitino will escape again, but someone associated with him will be printing license plates soon.

Adidas schools should be pretty nervous right about now. Looking at you Louisville, UCLA, Texas A&M, Indiana and Kansas.

High profile Nike schools should be nervous too, but it appears to be an Adidas rep that's really squeeling right now...

**** is about to hit the fan, big time. NCAA can't cover up the FBI. I read one thing that $100,000 was funneled to the family of an All-American high school basketball player by an Adidas rep. And that might just be the beginning.

Story has been updated, but board software is not allowing me to post quoted paragraphs.

Among those charged were an executive from Adidas, a financial adviser and a sports agent. Chuck Person, a former star with the National Basketball Association who works as an associate coach for the men

According to the 100 page report that the journalists are still going through, it looks like 6 schools were the major offenders (so far, the NYAG flat out said that there will probably be dozens implicated): Arizona, Auburn, Louisville, Miami, Oklahoma State, and Southern California.

Louisville? How can that be possible?

Looks like the other USC is implicated, and just coming off that final four appearance, too.

The implications of this long term could be huge. NCAA never wanted to admit that schools were using dirty recruiting schemes, now this could be an incredible amount of proof. It could have major implications on the future of the transfer rule imo. This is a very good situation for any teams who are clean and mid-majors. Get the trash out of the game.

I'm glad the FBI came in and I hope they turn over all the recruiting violation info to the NCAA (its been widely speculated that they will). Guys like Pitino, Pearl, Stansbury and Sean Miller have no place in the game and this should be the catalyst to get some of them out. Louisville might be looking at the death penalty, vacating a national title and 3 Final Fours.

It was always going to take the government to get this done. The NCAA has no subpoena power and really isn't supposed to be an investigative body. The FBI has done the work for them.

I wonder if there's a college football investigation going on somewhere too. I don't think football is quite as dirty, but you know there's at least some really shady stuff going on.

Can you elaborate on why a guy like Sean Miller has no place in the game? Maybe I don't follow along close enough, but I don't recall past issues with him(other than perspiration)? Were there issues at Xavier or have there been previous issues at Arizona with him? This isn't a good look for Pitino to have yet another assistant running amok behind his back. Feel bad that the guy just can't catch a break and always end up with assistant coaches with poor morals. It's also interesting that an Adidas rep was charged, but some of the schools implicated are Nike schools.

Hopefully the NBA will step up and change the draft rules as well. If kids want to make the jump to the NBA from high school it should be up to the kid to decide. If the NBA doesn't think the kid is ready than he won't get drafted and can go overseas and make his money. Some will obviously still resort to this type of tactic, but it should lessen the issue.

Does anyone think this could eventually lead to the death of the NCAA as it is currently constructed? The P5 schools have the resources to form their own rules, enforcement body and championships and leave mid-majors hung out to dry.

I can't imagine any head coaches would not know what is going on, it just doesn't make sense. I also have a hard time seeing the NCAA just collapsing. I've never really looked at how realistic it is, but there are so many other sports, I can't imagine the NCAA would let schools leave in certain sports, but still compete in others. If they want to create a new league, is that really possible? We've seen league's like the USFL and XFL fair miserably. I don't see how any other league, whether football or basketball (the only two that could realistically be considered) having a chance to survive. Throw in all the realignment and stuff from past years, and I really don't get it, maybe I'm way off base though.

Sean Miller is a classic oversigner and guy that runs kids off if he's able to. Also, look at what Xavier was recruiting before he got there and all of a sudden he's getting 4 and 5 star kids. Arizona was the same way, they'd really fallen off and then all of a sudden, BOOM, 4 and 5 star kids are going there. Arizona also interviewed Calipari (he turned them down) and Tim Floyd (OJ Mayo story broke) when they hired MIller. There is no way they didn't know he was dirty and they knew exactly what they were looking for.

I assume that would include the 2014-15 season, and if that's the case, LET'S BRING IN THAT SECOND SWEET SIXTEEN BANNER, BABY!
