  • Thank goodness we have these basketball experts around here to tell us what Green is good at and what role he should take after 1 D1 game. Surprised talent like that has gone unnoticed so far in the coaching community.

    In Jake I trust.

Pickford's volleyball spike blocks (plural) got me real excited. He just brings a different energy to the floor.

      • Really good to see It Phyfe on the floor tonight. This team is a build in progress. Disappointing tonight, but exciting things to come.

        • Sloppy all around game. Need to figure out this road thing quick to have a decent season.

Hopefully people will temper themselves a little with AJ and realize he's a freshman and will have bad games. The biggest concerns I had about him showed tonight. He is not the fastest guy and I was worried a smaller, quicker guard could cause him issues on both ends of the floor. Tonight it did. He will learn, especially on the defensive end. Too many bad fouls because he got beat and reacted poorly. Need him on the floor. This is the role Berhow and Miles could pick up, defense on the point guard, to allow AJ to guard and off guard, Unfortunately, that would mean fewer minutes for Haldeman since he is not even as quick or tall as AJ, so I don't see it happening. AJ is just going to have to figure it out.

Nice to see Pick and Phfye out there. Some of our out of sync may also have had to do with working them in.

Get home safe, get a good week of practice and get Penn.

          • Well that looked a lot like the last two years. Missed uncontested layups, missed free throws, under 14% shooting from 3, no offense. Disappointed in all the new guys except Green, especially after all the excitement about them on here. Speaking of free throws, please don't ever have Biggie in near the end of a close game. He was a good foot and a half off target on his attempts, don't think any amount of practice is going to get him over 20%.

But not going to get too down after one game, looking forward to the next one. If we play like that for the next 6 weeks I'll start to get worried.

It's not too early to ask what is flo hoops and how do we watch games on it? It better not be another pay channel. I paid for espn+ and so far I've seen one horrible football game and one pretty bad basketball game. The bb team has got 3 weeks to convince me to renew for another month.

It be another pay channel. Highly recommend finding the games streamed on some questionably legal sites.

Flohoops is a rip off.... $30 for a month. I emailed and asked if they had a daily or weekly rate and was told no. I'm hoping it's on one of those questionable streaming sites, I'm fine watching it from there.

                • I haven't watched the game yet, but I am concerned by the lack of time for Biggie. It seems odd to go from 23 minutes in the first game to 2 in the second. Was there any post game word on why he didn't play?

                  • I thought there were a number of times in the first half where AJ tried to make a tough pass where he should have pulled up and shot it.

Hi intermediate game is strong and I'll take a 12 foot shot from AJ anytime we can get it.

His ball handling habits will likely have to change a bit. Needs to handle it a little tighter playing against faster guys in college. He'll figure that out quickly.

Really? Egg. Koch. O’Rear. Koch. Tuttle. Green. Koch. Carlson.

Also Gruber, Schneiderman, Coleman, And Stout from the Mac days. Seems like every good UNI team has had multiple bigs making major contributions.

                      • After one game AJ isn't a PG and a bad 3 pt shooter. OMG

Yes. It was a disappointing game all around. Yes AJ played a bit out of control. Yes AJ had a poor shooting night.

But OMG this fan base at times.

They played 5 guards all night. Just matchup. He struggled mightily on defense when he was in. There's a role for him.

AJ is clearly a PG. Needs to be more of a distributor than he is. Love him creating space for mid range shots. Rarely seen anymore and has length to finish. Not a fan of his 3 pt shot, however. Takes way too many contested and too deep. Needs to run the offense more but likely has bad AAU habits

Eglseder and coleman had minutes diminish as time went. Orear didn’t really fit a positional mold...more a garbage player like pick. Tuttle and koch played mainly on the perimeter although tuttle established great post plays as part of his game that made him great. Was never a big fan of the koch boys as the last two underachieved in my book. Carlson was never in the post. All in all, post play development is a weakness for the staff
