Looking forward to watching the game tomorrow but with how we’ve played, this game could get ugly. People have mentioned it but we have absolutely no answer for Cook. The team hasn’t done anything yet this season vs any real competition to lead me to believe we will be able to shoot good enough to keep it close. Regardless of my thoughts on this I wouldn’t miss this game and I’m happy to watch this team continue to grow. I hope they prove me wrong and get the W because I want nothing more than to end this series with a win against a program I couldn’t dislike more. GO PANTHERS!!

This is just not true. Points per game is a bad metric for how good/bad a defense is, because total points scored will fluctuate depending on the number of possessions. Iowa's defense was terrible last year on an efficiency basis, from the very beginning of the year in the non-conference when they got blitzed by the likes of Louisiana Lafayette, Virginia Tech and even an awful Grambling team scored 74 points in a low-possession (68 possessions) game last year. This year, the defense isn't good, it's just not been awful.Originally posted by Wxcpanther View Post
That's where their defense was rated at the end of last year, but compared to nonconference play a year ago they're giving up 10 points more per game, fouls are up, and field goal percentage is up. They've played a slightly tougher SOS, but 10 points a game for an "improved defense" is a lot

They gave up 84 to an Iowa State team that shot 26% from 3, that doesn’t seem like a very efficient defense to meOriginally posted by DodgerHawki View Post

I didn't say that was a good performance. It wasn't very good. But Iowa's offense was unreal in that game, scoring 98 points in a 75 possession game. All I was trying to say from the beginning (and obviously not very well) is that Iowa is playing "better" defense this year, but better is relative only to last year, which was truly dreadful.Originally posted by Wxcpanther View Post

A.J. would be the biggest issue they have. I could see Weiskamp having a tough time guarding Trae or Pickford, depending who's in.Originally posted by run&blade View PostWho for UNI is a difficult defensive assignment for Iowa?

Believe it or not, Luke McDonnell is going to be an issue. Cook and Garza are really bad post defenders and Luke has decent enough footwork to get them on his hip a little bit.Originally posted by run&blade View PostWho for UNI is a difficult defensive assignment for Iowa?
AJ is going to give everyone problems.

It’s gonna be interesting to see who they have guard Isaiah. I would imagine they put Cook on him, because I feel like Garza would be a BAD matchup and Moss will guard either Wyatt or Trae with Weiskamp taking the other. Bohannon on AJ should be a good matchup on our offensive end with AJ having the size advantage plus his high shot release

I will call you out now on McDonnell so you can serve me crow if it happens.Originally posted by BCPanther View Post
