  • Regular Season Conference Record Projection?

I thought it would be interesting to project the conference record along with the usual banter. My guess? I'll go with 16-4.

16-4, they'll win the league outright by a game

0-20 if they don't start playing defense

Three weeks ago, I'd have said 16-4.

            Now, 12-8. I guess. Blech.

I think the worst part is I don't know what the record will be. The so called bottom feeders are better this season. We turn the ball over too much, don't get to enough rebounds, don't guard the ball well, don't get enough in transition, and are not picking up enough loose balls. We don't appear to be top 4 which is what matters the most.

Our league has really become an unpredictable heap of teams. It's anyone's game to win. The so- called bottom feeders are competitive. The predicted top teams are just kind of average. Drake might be 10-1, but what have they done? Not much. Evansville was supposed to be some doormat, but they're 7-2. I think Indiana State might be good, but the only good team they played beat them by 22. Meanwhile, Bradley has a lot of talent, but are only 6-3/0-2. SIU is a bit of a mystery. They beat Okie State, but lost to Austin Peay. All should be fun in March.

I'm going with 0-20, but winning four games in four days in St. Louis because that would be about the most UNI thing ever. Right up there with winning the regular season title and then being the only #1 seed to ever lose in the quarterfinals to the #8/#9 seed in MVC Tournament history.

The most UNI thing ever would be this scenario except losing on Sunday in STL after leading by 20 at half.
