A view without purple-tinted glasses. Good thing we got out of Chicago with a (close) win. Beating UIC doesn't look really impressive on that list. Lots to do in the next couple of months.
I have my purple tinted glasses on. We've already played our toughest opponents and we're battle tested. Nobody in the Valley has the size to give us fits like some of our non conference matchups. We win the league.

      Yes we do.

Headed into league play, here's where I'm at--

      1-UNI
      2-Belmont
      3-Illinois State
      4-Bradley
      5-Murray State
      6-Southern Illinois
      7-Valpo
      8-UIC
      9-Drake
      10-Indiana State
      11-Evansville

This is also how I would have it at the top. I feel that we are the best team on paper, and I particularly like how with matchup with Belmont via playing style.

That being said, this Valley season will be a grind, and we are going to have to earn it. My main concern with the team thus far is probably still shooting. We need to make more shots from the perimeter to build some leads and put these games away. Really need to get RJ and Max back to just for depth and ballhandling.

Outside of that, the team has looked very good. Leon has shown flashes of being a superstar, Trey is one of the best guards in the league, Will is an excellent Valley big man, and our defense has been as good as its been in many years. Stay healthy, and keep improving. I like our chances.

We have yet to give up more than 63 point in regulation this year. The rest of the Valley has played 128 games so far and have failed to score 70 points in only 34 of those contests combined. They are 9-25 in games in which they score less than 70. Lower the mark to 63, and the Valley is 1-14 when held to 63 or less.

We are going to frustrate a lot of teams this year with our style.

Every year Valley opponents play us tougher than non-conference teams. They know us well and scout us in more detail. I expect more games like UIC where we really have to grind against seemingly lesser opponents.
Really need to win our next 3 games before Belmont.
