  • Game 22 - @ Southern Illinois - Jan 28

Alright. It really feels like we turned a corner on offense against Murray State. We played with much better pace and our offense was aggressive.

We are sitting at 108 in KenPom while SIU is at 136. SIU has lost 4 straight and we just snapped our 5 game skid.

Tristan Smith is still out for us. Isaiah Stafford is out for SIU and Quelron House is questionable. House being out would be a big deal as he has the ball in his hands a lot for SIU.

Keep the good momentum going boys!

As mentioned already, I think as long as we play at a faster and more aggressive pace than we normally do we should come away with this one, but it is on the road so I'm cautiously optimistic. Two of their best guards being out should hopefully mean a big night is in store for Trey. Really hope as well that we get some bench production, preferably from more than just one person. Interestingly enough ESPN has UNI as the slightest favorite at 50.2% to win, but the line is in SIU's favor at -1.5.

Carry over what we did on Saturday and we're going to be in great shape.

Yeah, like you all, if the team that played on Saturday shows up, we're golden. If not, we may struggle to break 50/60 points again. Hopefully, the lesson has been learned and we continue onward in the way that we are. Also, come back soon Tristian. This team needs you.

Jake said Monday that Tristan might be possibility for Saturday. Would be huge...

Was Tristan Smith the key to our offense? We had a good day last weekend and back to this.

Again, we look way under classed in speed & athleticism. Pretty frustrating when it’s this ugly again after last game.

Third time in four games we've posted a first half score below 20.

Reverting back to the norm. So very frustrating to watch.
Please make faster cuts & get some 2-pointers. Don't just go thru the motions/stand around when you don't have the ball. Weak-side - MOVE!

How can we beat Murray State but can’t break 20 in the first half days later?

Damn I was absolutely sure that one decent offensive game against a team that doesn’t play defense meant we had turned a corner

Feels like watching a baseball team slump… when they aren’t striking out more than normal, but every grounder gets snagged and every fly ball is caught. Meanwhile the other team has that guy who has always been iffy with the glove and suddenly he’s Ozzie Smith against you

Sheesh, giving up a fast break dunk after a made basket. Some stuff we can blame on a long slump, some stuff we can’t

No matter how good the coaches say we shoot in practice, we just don’t have the athletes. Also, feels as though every game we give a new player a chance to have a career scoring game.

It’s the norm at this point. Just have to be appreciative when things do go our way and we can get wins.
