  • Nit

Don't murder me please, I'm more curious than anything. If we miss out on the NCAA tourney and get an NIT bid, is there a chance we'll get a home game?

If so, any thoughts on how they'll do the tickets? Will season ticket holders get their regular seats?

Oh, and just so everyone knows what a good fan I am. I was sick today and the wifey and I couldn't make the game, but like a good Panther fan, I gave my tickets away and someone else will filling in those seats. I wish some of the corporate people would do the same.

If the NIT selection committee saw all the empty seats tonight, they'll never give us a home game.

      bitter

I changed my mind on the arena size, it is probably the right size after all.

I have come to realize that UNI was at its pinnacle the last 3 years and it might be a long time before we see this kind of interest again.

After Coleman leave UNI basketball might take a big step backwards. Maybe Jordan will be the real deal but I don't know.

The need a guard that can break down a defense off the dribble, their offense is just like cement lately.

I agree that this is the right size for a basketball arena in this community, but I totally disagree with you about how UNI basketball will take a step back after Coleman leaves.

For one, Coleman is back next year. We could still get a tournament birth this year which would make it 4 in a row, that's great to recruit with. And lets take a look at next year.

Losing McKowen and Stout hurts, but if Koch puts on some weight, he's the second coming of Grant Stout. Kwadzo has some learning to do, but he can run the offense just fine. Everyone else will be back. We get Carlton Reed to suit up and watching Kerwin Dunham last year in the state tournament was like watching ole Benny Jacobson back in the day. He could be a sleeper on this team in the future and I'm thinking he could fill Benny's void. Add Jordan's height down low and I think this team will be just fine next year and in the near future.

Yeah we've lost three in a row, but no reason to throw in the towel for the next few years.

Now hold on a second MadCat. I'm not necessarily saying we're going to the NIT, I'm just curious.

You can't tell me the thought hasn't popped into your head.

You can't tell me that if we continue to play like this, someone would actually ask us to dance...

Okay, for the last time, by starting this thread I was by no way insinuating that I feel our team will have to settle for the NIT. I was just curious. Maybe I should've thought it through a little bit (how it would be percieved and what not).

And why does everyone jump on and accuse people of not "supporting" their team? That drives me nuts. I think everyone is still supporting the Panthers (purple wig or not Griff), I think some people are just frustrated with the last few games.

And for the record, the NIT still isn't that bad. I think a lot of teams can consider it a decent season when they make the NIT.

I just don't get how we lose at home and to such mediocre teams! I mean we are supposed to be so good and here we lose two at home and then lose on the road to the bottom two teams? I just think we are too one dimensional and we don't play defense. So i really think unless we change our ways, it is NIT bound. We have way to many negatives on our resume as of right now, we need to get on a win streak!

griff - I haven't heard you talking about our final four run. Way to support your team.

The reality is we have a VERY difficult schedule remaining and the question about what would happen if we did make the NIT is legitimate. The purple shades are great but sometimes it is what it is. This team is in trouble and unless something changes in a hurry, we will be lucky to see the NIT...
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

because im a realist with opitimistic, and not pestimistic views.

I think we'll make the tourney, and notch a big W...but we have plenty of work to do starting with saturday. one game at a time. all u (not being specific) bandwagonners make me sick...really starting to act like iowa fans...."you dont win, the seasons over" mentality. We should just get ready for football, right? Seriously, this thread is a drag.

its just a possibility, its not that no ones supporting them. not everyone is positive about it all the time, winning breeds contempt for losing and it frustrates people more now then 4 yrs ago.

well griff ill let you get back to going down on your 10th grade team that everyone loves hearing about

                            I'm tired of the optimism.

Whether it's the players, or the coaches, or just the way the ball is bouncing, this basketball team is showing zero signs of getting things turned around. That's not pessimistic. That's reality.

When we get to 20 wins...IF we get to 20 wins...we can go back to the pep-talks. But for now, let's face the fact that this basketball team is not very good right now.
