I'm with PTTB I would love to see Jordan in Purple and Gold and I know that it wouldn't take a lot to get him here.

As far as Clayton Vette from Waverly....

If he was really a solid Valley player, do you think that our staff would let a kid that is exactly 13 miles away, get away??

At this point the best thing you can say about his game is that he is 6'9". He is really slow and kind of clumsy. Its a stretch to see him playing a significant role for an upper level Valley team.. IMO...

The guy who got fired from Ball State just a year ago? Is that a good hire?
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

I have read that they want to make a huge run at Steve Wojokowski (sp?), Coach K's top assistant at Duke.

I don't know about that though for two reasons-

            1) Its going to be tough to get a big name coach there because I don't think anyone is sold on their commitment to improve in all sports

            2) Duke assistants haven't had the greatest track record as head coaches, see Quin Snyder and Tommy Amaker...

I was on the ISU campus this fall and if I was a prospective coach I would really question the schools commitment to athletics. I was really shocked at the quality of their facilities.

Also, how do you sell recruits on the fact that you can play in front of stands packed with ALMOST 1,000 rowdy fans...

Theres no reason to think winning at Indiana State wouldnt bring more fans in. They have plenty of history there.

Looking at a few attendance figures from this year, they brought in anywhere from 3,500 to 5,500 in the 4 random conference games I glances at. I would guess those numbers compare pretty favorably with UNI's in the years we were in the cellar of the conference.

As far as non-BCS jobs go, I would think this would be far above average.

The difference that I see is that even when UNI basketball was bad, other sports still drew well, namely football and volleyball. They are not drawing in anything out there.

Hartzell and a lot of other athletic directors in the Valley and Gateway have talked about how they are not sure if there is actually a commitment from university administrators to compete at a high level in any sport.

FYI... Waverly-Shelly Rock plays in the McLeod on Tuesday night in their sub state game.

Don't laugh, but would Wayne Morgan be a viable candidate at Indiana State?
I know last year was a profound disappointment for Iowa State, but his first two years were pretty decent with a run in the NIT and an NCAA tournament birth and first round win. He is a good recruiter as well. The whole Division I scheduling thing was way overblown, no matter what that hack Greg Doyel (who deserves to be kicked in the head until he bleeds out) wrote.

Keno Davis, the son of Dr. Tom, will soon be named the HC at Drake. That would only mean two openings at Valley schools.
"Give a cheer Ho, the purple and the gold!!"

I'm still waiting for confirmation too. I think it's strange that this was allegedly reported on WHO radio, yet not reported on WHO-TV sports or on its website. Or in the Register. Or by any other news outlets yet.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to leave and the announcement came soon. It's as good a time as any.

By the way, 9YearPlan - I meant to tell you that I owed you an apology. Remember when I gave you flak over your comment on Cotlar & Co. about UNI's guard play being weak (we were 13-2 at the time)? Well, you were right on the money...

It was reported on Saturday Morning Live on Saturday morning. Heard it while I was out and about... Don't know what to tell you besides what I heard...
