You must not have read my posts, because I'm going to bat for him too.

I wish him luck as well and think a nice fresh start at someplace that is willing to make an emphasis on college basketball will be great for him.

I'm just curious as to who they will get to replace him.

Probably because he hasn't done anything to prove himself at this level. Hopefully, he will have a ton of success at UNI, but I highly doubt that he is even a remote consideration either among fans or in the athletic department at Iowa.

Please, Please don't give Mr. Barta any Ideas. I am POSITIVE that Jake wouldn't even take the job if it was offered.

The more I think about it the more I believe that Altman will go to Iowa. My reasoning for this is simple, Altman has done everything he can at Creighton, Yes, he's a god there, Yes he's the Premire program/coach in the state of Nebraska, but he has nothing left to do there. He's won multiple MVC tourney and Regular season titles and he's made the NCAA tournament I think 9 times. That number could be wrong I haven't researched. From what I know he also has lost every time in the first round. I'm sorry but he won't be winning any NCAA Championships at Creighton, and I'm not saying he will at Iowa either if he went there, but he'd have a better chance doing it there because they are in the big ten. I know, I know the Mid Major teams are getting better every year, and don't get me wrong I love the valley teams and I would love to see one win the NCAA Title I just don't see it happening at Creighton.

Altman has the Iowa recruiting ties that the U of I is looking for, and he's got the name in the country and most importantly the region that Iowa is looking for. It makes sense to me, but by no mans do I think it's an open and shut case. One thing is for sure, Iowa is going to bring in a "High Profile" Guy (name wise) to try and take their team to the next level, and who knows I could be completely wrong, but I would say that all of us are wrong until it is announced.

I don't think Altman is going anywhere. He is from that area. His elderly mother lives in the area. He has a really good recuiting class coming.

I think the biggest thing is that he has seen the big time. He hated it at K-State, actually had a similar situation to what Alford did. I wouldn't think that he would be interested in doing that again...

I was just driving on I-80 between DSM and Grinnell and I saw Dana Altman driving!!! Can't say which way though. I also heard from some people at the DSM airport that Bruce Pearl was spotted...

Looks like Altman is staying put at Creighton if his right-hand man is headed out to Indiana St. McKenna was almost as popular in Omaha and was/is probably next in line if/when Altman leaves. His departure says to me that Altman is probably going to stick around Omaha for a bit.

I heard Rhima on radio say that creighton is building a new 50 million dollar PRACTICE facility for its basketball program.

Does anybody else think that the McLeod is penny for penny the nicest arena around?

Witter said he's well aware that Altman is a coach whose name is frequently mentioned with coaching vacancies each spring. He is considered a possible candidate for the Iowa job that opened last week when Steve Alford went to New Mexico.

"I'm not worried about that," Witter said. "Coach Altman told me straight up he wasn't going anywhere. He's a Creighton guy."

This is a quote from new recruit.

Well I'm not saying Altman is going to Iowa, but there was a similar quote just a little over a week ago from an Iowa recruit. In fact all coaches tell their recruits that right up until the point they leave for another school.
