Women are 9-0 in Valley play and outscoring opponents 80-7 in the first 9 games.

If you are in the area and can get to games, you need to go. This team, just like last year, is special. What Jacobs has built here is nothing short of incredible. If they had any "real" support/funding/facilities who knows what he could do here.

The staff is top 10 in the nation in staff strikeout rate.

I was there with my kids on Saturday and you see just how good they are even more so than on ESPN.

This is with Emmy Wells out for the season, and Pupillo has stepped in as a freshman and is looking like the first team catcher. It's going to be such a special 2 years after this one watching Jacobs rotate Wells and Pupillo behind the plate and through utility positions.

Agreed. I saw a pic on Instagram (I think) last fall of Wells with her arm in a sling and I thought "Oh ****". And then here comes Papillo and presto...

Do you know if Snider has eligibility left after this season? If not, that might be a position for whoever between Wells and Papillo isn't catching.

And so far Heyer is putting up even better pitching numbers than Packard.

If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

I'm pretty sure Snider is done after this year.

Emmy is more than capable to play some 1st, and given her height is a nice target overe there. Lamprect has this year and next left at 1st base, so Emmy *could* go 1st full time for her senior year.

Pupillo seems to be able to play pretty much anywhere on the infield based on her HS career and "lucked" into the catcher roll this year as a freshman with Emmy out.

Snider and Packard are done after this year as is Hannah Kelley. Snider and Packard are tough to replace and Kelly is a nice rotational/depth option that would be an every game starter for most every other Valley program, but the depth Jacobs has right now we should still be just fine moving forward

Every Valley game is on ESPN3/+. The schedule just isn't updated.

          They're definitely fun to watch

A 9-0 start to the conference season and outscoring the opponents 80-7 is ridiculous. Wish the non-con was better than 11-10. Will we have to win the conf. tourney again to get an NCAA invite?

Nice comeback win yesterday. Down 0-4 in the bottom of the last inning. Tied it up. Walk off win an inning later.

Not yet, no. Or rather, "it's too soon to tell." There's just too much schedule left. Hypothetically, if we win out until the MVC title game, we'll end up something like 41-11, which should absolutely be good enough to get it, we'd probably even be fringe top-25. I do think it's a little silly to assume we win out, however. Penciling in say, five more losses in the remaining 22 games (again, assuming we make the finals), and we're at 36-16, I have no idea where that puts us. Two years ago, we got an at-large with 32-20, but last year, we were left out at 32-13. I'm not familiar enough with the softball selection committee to know how we'd be this year.

MVC record now 15-1. Runs in conference games = 151 vs 27 given up. That is an average score of 9.4 vs 1.6.
                  9 1/2 to 1 1/2 are video-game numbers!
                  Ridiculous.
So is Heyer's strike out to walk ratio.

UNI on track to have Valley MV Pitcher (Heyer), MV Player (Dodge) and Freshman of the Year (Pupillo). They have been fun to watch in person and on ESPN+. Another chance to beat D+ Tuesday evening in DM and a big three-game weekend series at second-place Illinois State on tap this week.

Panthers had their hitting shoes on this weekend! Good to see Packard get the win in game 1, I was a bit concerned with her in Terra Haute.

Ditto for the sweep Sunday against the (basically) second place Redbirds. Behind a run in the top of the seventh, and Sanders does it again!!!!!! What lumber for a lead-off hitter. The Panthers are going to crush the record for runs in a conference season. Now 9 in a row and 19-1 in the conference season with 7 to play.

Damn they are rolling through the Valley.

                            Dominating.
Winning is more fun than losing.

Man if we didn't have such a rough start at the beginning of the year we'd be in the top-25 right now. Nothing you can do about that, though, and right now they're playing some phenomenal ball. Lot of home games to end out the season. Drake at home on Tuesday, then three against Evansville, one at Iowa, and then three more home against Valpo. All three Valley opponents are not great, we really shouldn't drop any more Valley games, but hey, it's a high variance sport.
