Dannen just tweeted that longer tailgating hours are happening. More details to come. He thanked Steve Schofield and the fan advisory committee.
"...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

Great! That being said this is such a no brainer is laughable it took a committee to figure out. Hope to see some more meaningful changes come out of the fan advisory committee.
"I think they're very good," Farley said of the preseason top 25 Hawkeyes. "But so are we."

I'm sure the committee appreciates your warm expression of appreciation.

I think you misread, that was a slight at the previous policy not the committee.

Here is a story that shows some of the hoops that would be required to have a raffle, etc at the games. Maybe the regulations need to be modified for the state schools?

not sure those issues would apply as much to the raffles/drawings suggested here.

the incentives suggested to increase student attendance at games would not require any additional purchases (beyond the built-in activity fees), only their attendance.

And the 50/50 type raffles suggested as a fundraiser would be cash only, and thus would meet the requirements.

Wow, sounds like they are pretty seriously looking at doing a Dome game watch for the South Dakota game and possibly Hawaii!

I noticed they really were not enforcing the tailgate start time anyway. I think mKing expanded hours official is a great move.

Now allow throwing footballs on the south side of the dome after games before my kids are too old!!!!!

Sounded like some of the big ideas discussed here were taken seriously by the committee, especially the pre-game experience. It would be interesting to see notes from the entire meeting to know what they discussed.

50/50 raffle, I would guess the profits from it combining football and basketball games would pay for at least one scholarship.

Set port-a-potties outside for ladies only and give them easy access to get in and out quickly from the dome.

Charge $5 a car to park in tailgate areas. This is free money and will stop nobody from coming.

Bring back throwing footballs in the dome after the game. Let the North side be a safe area where no throwing is allowed and let the south end be a free-for-all. My kids just hated it when that ended and we have left early since a couple of times because that carrot after the game was gone.

Sell some decent replica or real uniforms in the dome, good lord why is it so difficult to buy a realistic football jersey?
For Troy's Take I asked the following question and got the following response:

Can we bring back letting kids throw footballs after the game? Even if it is only one side of the field?

"I do not anticipate returning to the days of throwing footballs on the field after the game. We had some post-game fan injuries a few seasons ago resulting from those activites that led to the prohibition. There are too many people in a limited space, and the institution is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for spectators, including during post-game activites."

I mean, can't really blame him. It's unfortunate but he's right that the department and university could be held liable for potential injuries and damages.
