If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

As of Friday, Hartzell was looking into three possibilities - a two-game series with Appalachian State, a one-time trip to Mississippi State and potential options against Drake.

Why don't we just schedule the game with Drake. It is a guaranteed 50 point win, and the committe will count it as a D-I win (I don't know why, they won't be 1/2 the team that a Minnesota State will be) It is simple, get as many wins as possible, the committee will seed us 1 or 2 with a 10-1, 3 or 4 with a 9-2.Illinois State Fan at a St. Louis White Castle 3:45AM Saturday March 6th:
"White Castle?" "more like Black Castle..."
You stay classy Redbirds.

Rumor has it that an agreement with Drake has been reach for next season. I don't know if this is a 1 for 1 or 2 for 1 but it sound like the Panthers will be playing in Des Moines for the second straight year. I believe the game will be played on September 22nd.
Should be a great crowd since Iowa State is at Toledo and Iowa is at Wisconsin on the that day.

I'd take the Drake game in a heart beat, even with a home and home deal.
Counts as an FCS level game. A very winnable game. Don't have to leave the state. All Panther fans have a chance to see the game. Gets the Des Moines fan base out. And a night watching football at Drake's old-time stadium is not a bad way to spend an evening.
I'd take that deal in a minute. And if we can get Drake to come to the Dome in 2008, all the better.
We're not going to get a better deal than that.Winning is more fun than losing.
