Also of note, Troy Dannen and UW lost Kalen Deboer.

Husky fans are incredibly salty online right now. Fair or unfair (mostly unfair imo), TD is very much being blamed for this. They have been talking about the need to extend Deboer for months but as an outsider who follows UW closely, I don't think that was ever going to happen. Deboer has the same agent as Saban, Kirby, Mike Norvell, Lanning. Kalen probably had a pretty good amount of inside info that Alabama was going to have an opening, and he was never going to sign an extension.

Deboer really left that program in shambles imo, they have lost so much and their chances of keeping what they do have is not great. I think he is an incredible coach and probably is an offensive genius, but his recruiting track record at UW was pretty terrible and now those left at UW are going to be left paying the bill. I'm surprised at how angry fans are at Deboer - there is hardly anything being said about the incredible run they have been on.

Interested to see who TD hires. Right now it looks like Husky fans will settle for nothing less than Pete Carroll. No one seems to want Ryan Grubb which is a surprise to me, he was my first thought.

Another person with Iowa ties, if you’re into following that type of thing, Ryan Grubb, Washington’s OC and QB coach. He’s from NW Iowa and played at Buena Vista. Washington’s offense was damn good under him the last few years, and he worked with/fixed some stuff with Micheal Pennix to turn him into a legit NFL QB prospect. If he has continued success in his next gig, at Washington or following DeBoer to ‘Bama, he’ll get a lot of head coach consideration. His name could come up if/when something happens to either Ferentz or Matt Campbell.

I thought or assumed that Ryan Grubb was going to be the guy. I thought they needed to go that route quickly in order to keep the roster and portal class together as best they can. Doing that now though would be like closing the gate after the horse already left the barn - UW is looking at a serious rebuild as they head into the big ten. Whoever gets that job is going to be starting from square one. And that will be tough for dawg fans to swallow because Dan Lanning is building a slaughterhouse next door, they are going to be playing murderball in the Big Ten from day one.

I'm surprised by the reaction from Husky fans - they don't seem to want Ryan Grubb at all. It's Pete Carroll or bust. And mostly they just feel cheated by DeBoer, he won with his predecessor's players, recruited as if he had zero intention of being there, and left the program in shambles. It sounds like a lot of the players found out on Twitter and the reaction from most of them has been a resounding "f*** this guy."

They absolutely blame Troy Dannen. He has been thrown into a tough situation - this in addition to financial issues that the department has.

Another Iowa connection with Washington football -- Bill Inge, who played at Iowa and was a coach at UNI for a short time. He came with Deboer from Fresno State. Wonder if he will follow him to Alabama?

Washington hires Jed Fisch HC of Arizona. Sounds like Ryan Grubb wasn’t in the picture and even posted a tweet about it Saturday night, so he’s following DeBoer to Alabama.
