Great enthusiasm and great sound so far this year. Please, just one request though... Tell the drummer to stop yelling, screeching, whatever into that live mic he has by the drumset that feeds into the PA system. When he does that it sounds very bad up in the stands, and when he does it during opponents free-throws, etc. it is VERY unsporsmanlike. We are better than that. Just my 2 cents. Otherwise, keep up the great work!

I agree completely. Hoagy does a great job on the drums, but the extra noise is very annoying and unsportsmanlike. The pep band was terrfiic last night!"They keep saying that what really matters is not whether you win or lose, but how you played the game. The trouble is that the best way to determine how you played the game is by whether you won or lost." - Anonymous

I have to admit last night, I was sitting in the bleachers behind the team benches, but not in the student section, and there were many times that all I could hear was the drums coming through the mic. I don't know if the only way to fix that was for me to sit on the other side, but I did appreciate the fight song being played alot down the stretch. A quick question though. I have stated in the past that I really liked the live drummer leading the fans in clapping their hands before the game. The natural thing is to speed up, but is there any way there could be just a steady beat that doesn't speed up? The reason I say that is b/c by the time a few seconds of speeding up have passed, everyone around me was just clapping to be clapping b/c we couldn't follow the beat. Not being negative here...just appreciating what you do as a band, and looking to give positive feedback on what could be improved upon! Keep it up guys! The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

No... Sitting behind the visitor's bench and yelling your heart out in support of your team is taking advantage of the home court.
Intentionally using the Public Address system to scream like a girl when the opponents are shooting free-throws is classless and totally not necessary. It just sounds bad. Personally, I think the drums are loud enough without the use of the mic. You guys are better than that. Sportsmanship should extend to us in the bleachers, not just those on the floor.
I officiate high school basketball. If I discovered that a team was doing that during the game, not only would the offender be immediately ejected, it could possibly be a technical foul on the home team as well.__________________

Bruce Dicksinson
"What does that mean"
"Never question Bruce Dikcinson!"
Anyway, yes that is VERY unsportsmanlike! If you've ever been to a game at SMS, their band has great enthusiasm, puts on a great show, BUT they are the most unsportsmanlike band in the league! Not only do other teams complain, but their fans can't stand the band. Don't let it come to this!
Play hard, play strong, cheer when you're supposed to, but don't use the mic during free throws. If you get an anal referee, it could cost the Panthers a technical foul!"10% of life is what happens to you, 90% is how you react to what happens."

I couldn't tell you who that is. Suffice to say, though, that the drummer wasn't even aware the mic was on until late. Those of us in the UNI Pep Band strive to make your UNI Basketball experience a pleasant and energetic experience. If there are any problems that arise, please understand that we do not intend (usually) for such things to happen.

HA HA! Nice. I think he's referring to the mooning incident. And I also think he thinks it's going to be me. I'm sorry to have to dissapoint him, but if anything I'm going to get in trouble for my mouth (also Randy Moss-like). Ah well.
And there is no need to mike our drummer. Who mics drums anyway? Jeez.

from the drummer
Hey everyone wassup, Hoagy here. Im the infamous drummer everyone is talkin about here. First off, sorry about the mic thing, I didn't know they were on, because from were I stand, I can't tell. It was a mistake, so don't trip about it, everyone is human. Also, sorry about the screaming and stuff. I just do it for fun, I didn't relize people would trip about it. So it's all good, I'll make sure to tap check the mics after im done playing to make sure they are off, and if they aren't ill make sure to stay away from em. And I'll take it easy on the screaming, I just do it for fun, and it works somtimes, but if people are going to wine about it, I'll knock it off. No need to start anything. If you got any questions just drop em in the thread and I will answer em. Anyway, sorry about the stuff at the mens game, and I'll make sure to chill on monday. I was just getting worked up because it was a crazy and tough game to the end. Like I said, if you have anything else to say, just drop it in the thread and I'll respond. Thanks and peace. - Hoagy
