It is Stronger by Kanye West. The words are mixed to sound a little robotic and it's hard to understand at times. Seems lots of people have issues with the song. It is/was a popular song and all of the players/students know the song. It just seems strange each game I've been to that they play it for so long before the lineup begins. Personally, I'd like to hear the intro to Welcome to the Jungle inserted into this spot rather than after the team comes out.

Kanye is actually sampling the song "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" by Daft Punk. The reason they let it play for a while before they come out is probably get the message across they are stronger or something along those lines. It is more of a basketball song than Welcome to the Jungle is. I don't care if the student section is called Jake's Jungle or not. Don't really like that name anyway.

Isn't the team in charge of the music anyway? Or is someone else?

Excellent music trivia there clenz. I agree, never liked the name Jakes Jungle either. Still love the GNR though.

Who does make the decisions regarding pre-game music? I know Clayberg runs the video and music for all in-game happenings...but does the team give the input on preference?

I love how everyone thought Kanye thought of the background music and fought with me when I told them he took that from Daft Punk, but now that it seems to be common knowledge everyone knew from the start. Oh well. Don't get me wrong I love GNR, but it seems like something that fits our football team/dome better.

I don't know who/where the name came from, but I want to know what the other choices were if that is the best one.

Anyway I can't wait till I finally get to go to another game. My schedule hasn't work with home games well this year

I have no beef with either Kanye or GNR, there's just something about the techno beats that get the crowd pumped up. Something that you can crank inbetween PR's intro's during the slapping of hands.

We could always bring Zombie Nation over from the dome and play that. That seems to get everyone into the kickoffs. But we rarely get the OH part

Do they usually play that after Stronger and before the tipoff? Or am I dreaming that? That's a good song for the purpose, albeit a bit overused. Maybe somebody in the musically inclined section of the campus could whip up some homemade techno UNI customized tunage... put PR on a mic and freestyle a few takes, mix it up, and "start the revolution" as Jack Black might say.

You aren't too old for basketball, but I think popular culture, atleast the music part of it, might be pulling away just a tad. haha.

I think it was great if someone could throw together that kind of thing but I highly doubt it will ever happen.

Gonzo, Zombie Nation is the song we do before kickoffs that is a bunch of OH's and jumping. Pretty sweet techno beat to it.
