  • Number of Conference Wins

The MVC is the weakest it has been in years.

Unfortunately, we are having our worst non-conference performance in years as well.

Realistically, we probably need at least 12 and a bracket buster win to get our RPI below 100 and in contention for the post-season. That number seems high right now.

I'll stay as optimistic as I can and go with 10 MVC wins heading into St. Louis.

I'm not even sure if 12 wins in the MVC would push the RPI under 100. The whole conference is just going to be down, not many strong non-conference schedules and the performance in those has been bad as well.

My prediction: 11-7 Losses at Creighton, Illinois State, Drake, Missouri State, Evansville, Bradley and one home loss, I'll say Illinois State.
We get a big early win at SIU on New Years' Eve (no students, big man out or just coming back) but bounce up and down throughout January, then come home in February and get a big win over Creighton and mount a charge (with only a close lose at Illinois State) heading into STL. Though I'll be fine with 18-0, too.

      I think we get 11.

We get 8 at home (We will never beat Creighton) and win at Evansville, WSU, and MSU.

That would be a minor miracle. Not that I'm not for that but we don't protect home very well. I'd be more inclined to think we drop three home games.
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

I will say 12 wins in conference! We have shown signs of life, sadly we have also shown signs of bad play.

I think we get a couple of BIG road wins this year @ SIU, Drake, and In State! We also will beat Creighton at home! I just wish we still played in the DOME, we had a much better home court advantage then!

If you attend games in the McLeod Center, there is 0% chance you would want the Dome back.

I'm afraid you might be right, and that is what is so frustrating with our start.

We have absolutely put ourselves up against the wall as far as making any sort of postseason.

A bad conference season will really expose the Kool-Aid drinkers. If they tank the Valley I don't know how anybody can hype this team/coach anymore.

                          Okay Anti-Jake Crowd...

I am not going to be angry or try to defend him because it doesn't work with you guys, but I am going to pose a question...

Do you think we can do better for the salary that we are able to pay?

I will put that into context with giving you the salaries of the most recently hired Valley coaches. Kevin McKenna at InSU is making around 250k. Jankovich at IlSU is making 400k. Simmons at UE is making 275k. Marshall at WSU is making 500k. We are able to pay Jake 150k and give him a car to drive.

So with that said, give me a name that we can attract for that salary that doesn't remind me of Sam Weaver.

I think we win 9 conf games. I think we sneak a couple on the road and drop a few at home.

Brett, making more money does not help a coach make better decisons on the court.
