Not sure if this is the forum this topic should be discussed in but I'll bring it up anyway. Blake Griffin is a MONSTER. He thoroughly showed Tyler Hansbrough what it's like to play against top talent. I really could tell the difference between an NBA big man and a really good college big man. (don't get me wrong, psycho T was a GREAT college player, just not sure he translates to the pros, although they said that about Kevin Love, too) This guy is gonna be quite good in the Association I think. Any time the Sooners were on tv this year, I considered it must see to see what this kid could do. I even talked to some friends about contributing to the cyclowns' athletic department and going down to see him and brackins go at it since I know I won't have a chance next year. (at least not in college) They were just talking about how great it would be to see him come back next year, which would be awesome and he could develop a bit of a jumper, but he's good as gone. And I don't blame him, he's ready. Just thought I'd bring his name up after he single-handedly kept his team in that game and didn't see it anywhere else. Feel free to lend your opinions...

Re: Blake Griffin is just kinda good...
One thing bugged me about Blake.... he reminded me of Randy Moss a little bit on the basketball court. Anyone else think he just took some offensive and defensive sets off? ( granted he carried his team, but I've seen him about 5 times this year )

Yes. Griffin is very, very, very cocky. But he's pretty good!Originally posted by bigticket View PostOne thing bugged me about Blake.... he reminded me of Randy Moss a little bit on the basketball court. How can you say he is cocky? He shows almost no emotion at all. If anything, I would say he isn't cocky enough. He is out there getting hacked all day.UNI FIGHT

Agreed. I haven't seen a #1-type player with his composure in a long time. In OU's opening round game, he was thrown over the back of another player who got tossed. Griffin just walked away.Originally posted by 06panther10 View PostHow can you say he is cocky? He shows almost no emotion at all. If anything, I would say he isn't cocky enough. I have never thought for one second that this kid was cocky.

Re: Blake Griffin is just kinda good...
I went to the NCAA games in Kansas City so I got to see Blake Griffin in person twice. The kid is the real deal and he is not cocky at all. The cocky player in the games I saw was Vasquez from Maryland. Everytime he scored to build their lead against Cal he found the Maryland fans and was pointing to them and showing off. Anyways, back on point with Griffin. Michigan tried to trap and double team him like NC did, but he just found space and went right up and overpowered them. He had some pretty sweet dunks too like when Novak tried to take a charge and Blake just posterized him and also his one handed dunk after a nice post move inside. I was really hoping to see UNI in KC, but the Blake Griffin show was still worth it.Coach Whisenhunt 1/18/09. "There was never any complaints about not being named the starter, all he wanted was an opportunity and he took advantage of it. Kurt is probably one of the greatest individuals you'll ever meet. Kurt worked hard on a lot of things that a lot of times older quarterbacks aren't willing to do. That's a credit to his humility and his competitive drive, and the reason that we are here today in great part is what Kurt Warner has done for us."

Wrong.Originally posted by jman2004 View PostYes. Griffin is very, very, very cocky. But he's pretty good!
Griffin is not cocky at all. For being one, if not the, best college player in the country he has a ton of class. I have not once seen him do anything cocky, and thats watching him the majority of the season.
If anything, he's the one calming down his older brother when things tend to get heated.

Re: Blake Griffin is just kinda good...
The first thing that popped into my head when you said that was Tim Duncan. Quiet leadership, extremely hard working, supremely talented and wants the ball in his hands. Not even for a second have I thought of Blake as cocky. The thing that kind of bothers me just a little bit and you brought up is that maybe he isn't cocky enough.Originally posted by 06panther10 View PostHow can you say he is cocky? Maybe his quiet demeanor of him comes of as cocky?Originally posted by Casey'sitsallgood View PostThe first thing that popped into my head when you said that was Tim Duncan. I guess this is more of what I was getting at.Originally posted by clenz View PostMaybe his quiet demeanor of him comes of as cocky?
I won't back off my comment. Blake Griffin is "quietly" cocky. He's above most college basketball players and he knows it. Every time he throws a dunk down he turns to find the nearest defender and roll his eyes as if they should have never even attempted the game of basketball. Almost like he's thinking, "Is this all anyone has got?" It's just his demeanor. He's not "in your face" but he's definitely got an air about himself.Last edited by jman2004; 03-31-2009, 08:41 AM.

Then turn to find the nearest camera so he could stare into it and draw attention to himself while the rest of his team hustled back on defense . . . yep, I saw it.Originally posted by cydave View PostSpeaking of dunking...

The guy's got mad skills, but is definitely NO Tim Duncan in the modesty department.
