I understand what they are trying to do... But this is one of the few traditions we have that we actually get everyone to do. Mess with it too much and we might lose it all together.

And why would that be a big deal? As stated by many, its like a walking (standing!) oxy-moronic 'tradition' as it stands (again pun intended) now. Do you think our players are thinking, "Man I hope I can score so everyone will sit down!! That will really motivate me!!"

Question... if they are going to announce it, why not also put it up on the scoreboards? A simple message: "We stand until THEY score" could stay up on the board during play (as opposed to a PA voice which cant be utilized during the game).

Honestly dont understand how this habit could be that hard to break.

I remember Coach Miller trying to do this same thing, and unfortunately it never caught on. Hopefully Jake has better luck with it.

Who really cares anyway?? I guess I can be just as loud sitting down. It's not like the players are looking at us and thinking... "man, those guys are standing up out there! I need to keep playing hard because of their sacrifice to this team!!" That's my guess, but then again, I also think its super gay when people do this at football games....



AS FANS WE HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR, NOW WE WILL INSPIRE THE TEAM BY LETTING THEM KNOW IT IS THE FOURTH QUARTER. WE ARE ALSO SHOWING THE OTHER TEAM THAT WE ARE NOT TIRED BY THRUSTING OUR ARMS INTO THE AIR

I can be just as loud sitting at home If you really think that during timeouts or clock stoppages that the players wouldn't notice everyone on their feet, you are sorely mistaken. Ask every one of the players on the team if they'd rather have us sitting down and politely clapping or standing up and screaming our hearts out and you'll get you answer. Rise up Panther Nation!

Panther fans----please help pass the word. Coach Jake wants your help. Instead of standing until the Panthers score, STAND UNTIL OUR OPPONENTS SCORE. I know Coach Miller made this request years ago but we were never able to get it changed. Old habits are difficult to break. But, the purpose of standing at the start of each half is to support our guys when they are on DEFENSE. The more the opponent misses the louder and more intense the crowd. This will be announced before we tip on Tuesday, but I need your help in getting this done. Again, this comes from Jake. Let's make it happen.

Plus it won't be quite as embarrassing when we don't score for 13 minutes or whatever it was a couple of games ago.

Agreed 100%. The students do a great job of this, but too many on the sides can't wait to sit down. You get up to support the defense late in a close game and as soon as a bucket is scored or a quick timeout is taken, the intensity is gone when everyone breathes that sigh and sits back in their chairs. I'd love to see everyone stand as much/as long as possible.
