UNI is 20th in the Associated Press poll.


Texas is No. 1 for a second week in The Associated Press college basketball poll, and North Carolina hangs on at No. 24.
The Longhorns (17-0) moved into the top spot for the first time in school history last week. They stayed there Monday, receiving 57 first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel.
Kentucky (18-0) was No. 1 on eight ballots and remained second in the poll. Kansas, Villanova and Syracuse held at third through fifth.
North Carolina dropped from 12th to 24th after losing lost two games last week and three of four. The Tar Heels are below 13th for the first time since February 2006.
Joining the rankings are No. 20 Northern Iowa, No. 21 Ohio State and No. 23 Mississippi State

John Bohnenkamp, the lone Iowa voter, has the Panthers ranked 15th this week. Mark Berman of the Roanoke (Va.) Times has UNI the highest of any AP voter at 11th.

Dick Vitale? Surprisingly, he has the Panthers 19th this week.

Meaningless, but still very cool to see Northern Iowa ABOVE North Carolina. Roy probably didn't think he'd see the day. Hope this doesn't go to Jake's head and he starts yelling at fans in the stands!

Would be nice if ESPN could get the HD equipment to Wichita given the game tomorrow night will have a ranked team.

Todd Rosiak is the beat writer for Marquette. He's still probably judging UNI by last year's game at Hoffman Estates. It'll take a while to convince him.
