You're right, it would create headaches, but it would also increase revenue (for the home team) and tv viewership. The next season, you would think, the team that got shipped on the road, would have a favorable matchup in the non-con (pre-conference season) and then be guaranteed a home BB matchup. That could be a benefit to help with things. Plus, if ticket offices were capable, they could give vouchers to the return game the following year for fans as an exchange for their flexibility to the road teams fans (the team that got sent on the road, they would be the ones giving vouchers to their fans for the next year's game---or an equivalent home game).
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.
