    Belmont should be absolutely livid. They needed a decent game more than anybody in the field and Ohio is barely in the top 100. Also, here Belmont we will double screw you with a 10 pm eastern tip so nobody watches.

    ESPN had an absolute hard on for McDermott vs. Delavadova and they were going to make it happen no matter what.

        Part of me hates to see the event go. It provided me with one of my favorite UNI memories, the Bucknell game, and also gave us several extra TV games over the years. But I agree it has run its course. Too many quality programs have dropped out (Gonzaga, Butler, etc) leaving the MVC teams as the perennial high RPI teams, and since we cannot play ourselves there are few decent matchups left on the board.

          Once the CAA pulled out and went to NBC, there was no chance at salvaging the event. There just weren't going to be enough quality teams.

          With our resume in the past we wouldn't even have sniffed a TV and now you can make the argument our game is better than a couple of the ESPNU games...

              Either NBC or FOX Sports One and Two launching later this year.

              Maybe I'm crazy, but I remember in the not too distant past that we played a bunch of game on ESPN2 on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. I am almost positive we played Creighton and WSU in 6:00 ESPN2 Tuesday Night tips and I know that the first time Mac came back with CU we played at 8:00 on ESPN2.

              Where have those games gone? Why is the league okay with their weak Sunday night ESPNU slot and a bunch of games on ESPN3?? Saying we have more games on ESPN than ever before is so disengenuous, because in my mind counting ESPN3 games isn't right. I would be interested to see how many people are tuning into these ESPN3 'Exclusives'...

                Indiana State and Belmont got a total shaft. What the heck is Murray St. doing in one of the TV games?? Total joke that they are trying to showcase one player over better, more talented teams. We have seen exactly why this event should die.

                  I agree 100% ...... I'd rather have them on regional FSMW and CSNC than ESPN3. Saying they're on an ESPN "network" feels like a half-truth to me.
