  • 2015-16 schedule

    Someone asked where to put next year's schedule. Here is a compilation of what we know.

    The 2015 Diamondhead Classic will feature Hawaii, Harvard, BYU, Oklahoma, N. Iowa, Washington State, Auburn, New Mexico (minimum 3 games)

    @Richmond
    @George Mason

    Iowa State in Des Moines

    vs Stephen F Austin
    vs North Carolina (possibly)

    I can't remember if I read or heard it announced that UNI will return to North Dakota next year, or whether it was a buy game.

    That leaves 3-6 games to get for next year (depending on the status of the North Dakota series, the UNC series, and if a 4th game is attached to the Diamond Head tourney---similar to the Toledo game tacked onto the three game game Bahamas event)? Regardless, it will be a tough schedule for sure. Lean on home games as of now.
    The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

      North Dakota is a 2 for 1. Next year in Grand Forks, 2016 back in Cedar Falls.

      South Dakota State is a buy game. No return.

        We have played them 2 for one in '06, '07, '08. Justin Sell is their athletic director, he came from UNI. It would make sense to keep playing them in that they are an old rival, in the football conference and their athletic philosophy is much like our own.

        Hope we are not overlooking them this year. They are 9-3 at this time with a win at St. Louis U. Most of their games have been close with a number of overtime contests. They have just had a point guard become eligible at the semester in that he transferred from the U. of Wisconsin a year ago.

        Head coach Nagy says the U of W transfer is their best player and will influence their style of play. They play sound defense, rebound well and run a controlled offense. They will not be an easy win. If we are looking ahead to the conference opener we may get surprised.

          It would be fun to play at SDSU in the Pentagon thing in Sioux Falls instead of their gym.

            South Dakota State just won at Utah State too which, with their heavily-engaged student section and fan base, is a really tough place to win.

              Thanks all for the info. I never would've suspected this as a game to watch closely, but it sounds that way. They're playing teams tough like Utah State, SLU, etc. SLU is a good program, and not an easy out in any year. You'd never suspect a Dakota team could beat them. Add to that a power 5 transfer that must be pretty good, and you've got the makings of a team who could sneak up on a lot of other programs. One really good player can make a big difference. Loyola in our league is a potential up and coming example of that.

                Please don't let this game be like the Ohio game a few years ago. A strong non-conference slate gets ruined by a loss in the final game and carries over into mediocre MVC results
