A Sweet 16. 3 Conference Tournament Championships in 6 years, Back to Back Regular Season and Tournament Champs, Multiple records/Top 5 school records in the last decade. Several rankings. UNI has the best 7-10 year stretch for in-state schools. Very high graduation rate. Stand-up program. How much longer do we have to be successful for that culture to change?

If that isn't long term success, than I don't know what is with what we are given and what we have to work with, against who we have to work against and with the money we have. We have a team in the top 20 with one of the best defense's in the country and a 16-2 record. Just makes me sick.

I know some/most people see success differently but I'd say those accomplishments above speak volumes.

(this is more for the getting students to the game) I kinda wonder if we still played in the dome with the success we have if the students would show up more. The seating was better IMO..more close to the action having both ends and one entire side. I liked that way more than the McLeod seating on one end.

Yes. Wow. I'm not sure what we can do/change.

The only two things that would change the culture and start to get UNI a small portion of the respect we deserve are:

            1. The major media in the state start to respect and cover UNI on an equal or at least proportional basis with the other two state schools. Not going to happen in the foreseeable future. They are very heavily invested in the Iowa/ISU rivalry and the myth of that those schools athletic teams are inherently and by divine right way superior to UNI.

            2. UNI students themselves taking much more pride in their school and ownership in their athletic teams as lifelong fans. This has happened to a small degree, there is more of this then there was in the past, but not fast enough or widely enough. I wish I knew the answer to speeding this up, it seems to take many generations to gain traction.

This is the key and I don't really know the answer. Living in KC I think Pitt State in Kansas is a good example for people\administrators to review. For football at least they are a high level D2 school but they consistently draw in the 10k+ range. Kansas is a state smaller than Iowa and also has other large State schools to compete with. So why can't we as a high level FCS football/High level mid major basketball team do better?

Take 380 south on an Iowa football weekend and it will be bumper to bumper traffic in the north bound lane. I don't think they were all at the Riverside casino.

Yes, as far as basketball, on a bad day for football we will have 10,000--where are those same fans for basketball?

I'm pleasantly surprised with tv coverage from our local Sioux City stations in both football and basketball. This is a big change in the last couple of years.

Sioux City Journal has had many news items to do with UNI sports. Big change.

Maybe they need to be offered season tickets for weekend games only. Seriously. Weeknight games are tough for lots of folks.

Offer season tickets to Saturday games at a premium price to build on the foundation of those who come to football games. Offer weeknight games at bargain prices to help fill the stadium. Full season ticket holders will still buy their tickets because lots of them want their preferred seats, even if it costs a little more.

Yeah, thats ideal for the consumers, but this is a terrible business strategy for UNI. One of the main purposes of ticket packages is to get tickets sold for games that aren't as interesting or are during the week.

We wait 45-60 minutes before start to try to leave the lot for football games...on purpose. We like to stand around and discuss the game while we listen to the post game show and decide where we are going for dinner. I haven't made it down for a basketball game yet this year (three hour drive to get to CF) but I would have the same approach. When I attend a UNI sporting event I treat it as an event not just a game. I see a lot of the donors treat it like they have to be there more than they want to be there.

They have done weekend package games in th past. Not sure about this year though.
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

Maybe. Maybe not. I think full season tickets would still sell at a good clip. But there are a lot more tickets that could be sold for weekends only. My thoughts in this regard were started by the comment about how many more come to football games than basketball games. Makes me think that there are a lot of fans that we are not drawing in now.

Weekend season tickets would be awful for weeknight games. Would be a net loss overall.
