    Re: Up Next: Evansville

Sometimes I think a stiff breeze is enough to keep from people coming out.

      Re: Up Next: Evansville

Guys, I'm a huge Panther fan, too, but let's be honest. If someone is coming from an hour or more away and a snowstorm is in the forecast, it's not unreasonable to expect them to not risk their lives to get to/from the game. It's a basketball game. Not everyone lives in the Cedar Valley and would just be slightly inconvenienced by snow. For some people it really is dangerous for them to travel so far in those conditions, and some have to consider doing it with children in tow. If we want to get on the students who are in some cases basically across the street from McLeod, fine. Let's not question others who have a legitimate concern, though.

I am guessing nobody is faulting people that travel from outside of the Cedar Valley to the game. Its the students that have to walk 3 blocks or the people that have to drive from across town....not the people driving from across the state to make it.

Just saw a post on facebook from the Panther Pep Crew trying something unique for the Evansville game. They want students to wear a gold shirt under a purple shirt and then UNI hits the first 3 they take off the purple shirt

Here is the example video they showed......https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud18NhFwRiI

When did snow become such an issue? I totally get ice/sleet.

I suppose with an 8pm tip no one wants a slow drive home.

Cool idea...I like that a lot! Hopefully we don't have any "wardrobe malfunctions" as they rip off the top shirt. (come to think of it, that might get the students there if they think they might get to see something). j/k

As for the weather - I've actually been surprised before by the turnout on crappy weather days. But this is a later night game, during the week, so won't fault out-of-towners for not coming. However - if you're in the Cedar Valley and you have tickets, you should get your butt to the game.

Oh, I'm still going to make the trip from Ames to Cedar Falls. I would just prefer there be no snow.

Wish I could be there. If I was in IA, I wouldn't let the snow stop me. My parents will be there. And they're 65+ years old. It's gonna be a special night full of emotion. Can't believe that four years have gone by already for Seth, Deon, Marvin, Nate, and Max. They deserve an amazing crowd turnout.

Had the family up over the weekend, had a chance to say our goodbyes to this years team

There is just no way to make it for an 8:00pm tip on a Wednesday.

I will say this, my boys have fallen in love with Seth Tuttle and Wes Washpun. My youngest tries to spike his hair with gel (he is a four year old pasty white kid) on game days and wants to be Wes for halloween. My oldest (seven) thinks that Seth is the second coming of Jesus. This team has been special to me because two seasons ago we started dragging our boys to basketball games too and they followed it really well and followed along. Our boys have been to 20 games in the last three seasons and my oldest loves when they announce starting line ups and he hears Seths name. I had a lump in my throat Saturday thinking that my son wouldn't hear that again and had no idea...

We now hold season tickets to the Iowa Energy and have already committed to buying season tickets in Cedar Falls next year.
Illinois State Fan at a St. Louis White Castle 3:45AM Saturday March 6th:

"White Castle?" "more like Black Castle..."

                        You stay classy Redbirds.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Seth Tuttle playing for the Iowa Energy sometime in the near future.

Really bummed that the weather is going to keep me from being at the game, but can't wait for the ball to go up so the seniors can go out in style. Hopefully there aren't too many others like me and the turnout is still great.

Weather/sick child will be unfortunatly keeping me away tonight. Extremely disappointed we cant make it.
